Umbrella Dichotomy
May 24, 2009I’m still playing with my PTI Umbrella set. This is such a fun set!
This first card is an idea I’ve had since I saw the set. Ya know it’s gonna be one of those days when your umbrella doesn’t cooperate
The sentiment is from Verve (they have such cool sentiments!). The ‘wind’ is using one of the flourishes from the new PTI set (another awesome set). PTI has a dark grey paper, but it was too dark, so I used SU’s Basic Grey. PTI’s Soft Stone color though is very nice.
This second card was my first attempt at a card for the PTI Blog Hop (the challenge is to use yellow). I wanted the umbrella to be a parasol – so I stamped the flourish from With Sympathy and clear embossed it; then, on the back, I stamped the smaller umbrella and cut it out. Click the image to see the detail. I love how that part turned out, but the rest of the card just isn’t cutting it for me. I hope to work in another parasol in a future card because I think it is pretty.
Ink: Charcoal, Noir (Palette);
Paper: Soft Stone (PTI), Basic Grey (SU);
Other: dimensionals;
Ink: Versamark, white;
Paper: Lemon Tart (PTI);
Other: clear ep;

Love that first umbrella card with the umbrella turned inside out. Perfect sentiment for it, too. Just a great idea!!

These are fabulous! I love the inside-out umbrella and the sentiment you put with it!

Very cute idea Karen! Don’t you love it when you have an idea from the very moment you see a set and it works the way you want it to?

I posted this comment over at PTI but had to tell you so you’d see it: that inside out umbrella is simply genius, and all week I’ve been thinking of different phrases to use when I CASE that card! Thanks for the great inspiration!
