Oceans of Joy

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Oceans of Joy | by karen h @ carefree creations

A little smudge of color to make the white die cut pop. I say white, but it is more cream. I used watercolor paper to make the entire card – including the die cut (because that sorta matchy-matchy makes me happy).

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

Boy Oh Boy

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – BOY!

Here is my take:

Boy Oh Boy | by karen h @ carefree creations

I don’t have a need for a “boy” card, so I wanted an idea that was less gender based.

And here is my take:

Lucky Clover | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is such a versatile sketch! I had lots of ideas, but these clover dies were definitely calling my name!

I knew I would use three different greens for the die cuts, but my daughter helped me by picking gold for the sentiment – I never think about metallics – but this is perfect!

It’s Not a Dress – It’s a Wizard Robe!

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – DRESS!

Here is my take:

Wizard Magic | by karen h @ carefree creations

The only dress stamps I have are old and barely used (and so I wasn’t inspired by them). Then I remembered the bit in Harry Potter where Ron is disgusted by his dress robes. I pulled out this wizard image to complete my card.

I added some sparkle to the, um, sparkles. Here’s a close up:

Halloween Watchers

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Halloween Watchers | by karen h @ carefree creations

My mojo was starting to wane when I made this. Originally I was going to try to make something other than a Halloween card….but decided it wasn’t worth hurting my head over.

I love how this turned out! I bought this set when it went on clearance sale months ago – and I bought it to make a card just like this (I love all those eyes!!).

I did end up using a different purple because I really do not like the Fig color. Razzleberry is fairly similar but just seems a bit brighter purple.

I stamped the eyes in visual triangles by color.

Hugs Can Heal

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – HEAL!

Here is my take:

Hugs Can Heal | by karen h @ carefree creations

My favorite colors are blue & green. For a “heal” cue word, I thought those colors would be perfect. Since the card is supposed to bring a bit of happiness, I made the sentiment a color from the other side of the color wheel.

Flowers & Bees

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Flowers & Bees | by karen h @ carefree creations

This was a fun sketch! I was made this card a month ago while it was hot so my card reflects that summer feel.

To help make it all feel a bit more cohesive, I added black lines to the bee butts to help make a triangle with the black sentiment.

Make My World Go ‘Round

There is still time to play along with the CASology challenge – FLIP; it is an extended deadline!

I thought I’d post some more inspiration for you:

Make My World Go Round | by karen h @ carefree creations

With the “flip” challenge cue, I decided to use the Flip Flop technique.

Here are additional views of the card. First, a partial open:

Birthday Pansy

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Birthday Pansies | by karen h @ carefree creations

Yellow and purple are always a hard combo for me. But then I remembered pansy flowers! The only stamp set I have with pansies is an old collection of small images. I used the ink to watercolor the images (using grey for the leaves).

To work in the blue from the challenge palette, I die cut a fancy frame and stamped the sentiment.

Thanks a Bunch

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – FLIP!

Here is my take:

Thanks a Bunch | by karen h @ carefree creations

I chose to flip the corner of my card up. Keeping all the images together leaves lots of white space.
