Birthday Greetings

kth_bday_mailboxes

CPS is doing a PTI challenge with a PTI prize pack. I couldn’t pass that up! I needed a birthday card and the challenge is a sketch, so half the card was already decided for me. I wanted a cheery card but not overly girly. I selected the Mailbox Greetings set from PTI – that seemed to work nicely with the sketch. Since I am mailing the card, I didn’t want it too bulky, so this is just layers and some popped butterflies.

I had to do a little more – the inside was just a bit to plain :) With a little masking, I stamped just the end mailbox and some grass on more white paper. Then I colored and cut. I added an envelope with a letter inside. It isn’t much, but I’m happy with it.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday

Card Set – Birds

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Card SetI have a family friend who loves birds. I wanted to make her a gift set of cards that could be easily sent through the mail without requiring extra postage. I knew I needed to skip the knots/bows and all lumpy embellishments. This was hard for me – but I love how these cards turned out! I popped the focal image up on dimensionals and still managed to work in some ribbon.

kth_cardset_extrasI kept the sentiments somewhat generic so the cards could be used for whatever came up. The pattern paper is actually made with the Stampin’Up! Beautiful Borders – I love that set! I just repeated the border to make the background. I also used that same border on the inside and envelope.

Tropical Wishes

Tropical Birthday CardI made this card way back in November for my sister-in-law’s birthday. She always strikes me as a fun and festive chick, so I wanted a bright card – and I went with the Cheers set from StampinUp. I created patterned paper once before and I really liked it, so I wanted to do that again. I choose a Mojo Sketch to get me started.

I stamped the images with Noir Palette ink and colored with my SU markers. To make the drink more focal, I added crystal effects to the glass and a tiny bit of glitter around the lip of the glass.

Inside the CardI even decorated the inside and the envelope. I’m really starting to enjoy doing that…it is like another little canvas. For the inside, I made the bottom part with masking and a stripey stamp from SU – then I just used a marker to draw the blue dividing line.

Teacher Gifts, part 1

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

I normally don’t do big Christmas gifts for teachers, I prefer to spoil them during Teacher Appreciation week. But this year I knew we wouldn’t be around during that time and we had such awesome teachers that I *had* to do something at Christmas time. We miss them something bad right now! *sniff*

Altered Lunch BoxOn to the projects. I’ll post in two pieces – some today, some tomorrow. First up is Mrs. B (third grade). She likes school/office stuff, so I made an altered Lunch Box using some old Stampin’Up! Notations paper. I too love office stuff, so making this box was pure fun for me :) As soon as I saw the paper, I knew I had to use the ‘ruler’ part around the center. The ticket (from the Stamp of Authority set) was added because tickets are a big deal in Mrs. B’s class – you earn them and then can use them for fun stuff – like sitting at the teacher’s desk!

GiftsInside the lunchbox I included a matching post-it note holder, made from an acrylic frame, and a matching beaded pen. Of course for the pen I used the “number” paper….forgetting that once you bead it you can’t read the numbers any more…oh well! I also created a tea-bag book. For the tea-bag book, I used a template by CookieStamper that I found on SCS. The tea cup is from a BlockHead Stamps set.

Note CardsFinally, I also included a set of note cards. I knew I wanted to use the doggie image – my daughter says Mrs. B. loves her dog. My attempt to make the cards (sorta) match the rest of the ensemble, I added the notepaper background. The dog is colored with Stampin’Up! markers, if you work fast enough, you can get it done without the marker lines.

A New Nest

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

First off I have to give a great big thanks to Joyclynn who sent me a whole set of bird stamps. They are the cutest things! She sent them a couple weeks ago and I really wanted to use them, but I just haven’t been in the mood to stamp. But I found out a friend of mine just moved into a new place and I wanted to send her a congrats card. So I had to use the new bird set! One of the images had a bird in a nest – which of course made me immediately think of the “new nest” sentiment. On the inside of the card I stamped the branch image from the bird set. The image is watercolored – just ink and a brush.

Supplies:
Stamps: Bird (Inkadinkado), Sentiment (PTI), Alphabet-nest (Purple Onion);
Ink: Brown (Palette), Baja Breeze (SU), Cocoa (SU);
Paper: Kraft (SU), Vanilla (SU), Baja Breeze (SU), Manchester DSP (SU);
