Umbrella Dichotomy

I’m still playing with my PTI Umbrella set. This is such a fun set!

This first card is an idea I’ve had since I saw the set. Ya know it’s gonna be one of those days when your umbrella doesn’t cooperate 😉 The sentiment is from Verve (they have such cool sentiments!). The ‘wind’ is using one of the flourishes from the new PTI set (another awesome set). PTI has a dark grey paper, but it was too dark, so I used SU’s Basic Grey. PTI’s Soft Stone color though is very nice.

This second card was my first attempt at a card for the PTI Blog Hop (the challenge is to use yellow). I wanted the umbrella to be a parasol – so I stamped the flourish from With Sympathy and clear embossed it; then, on the back, I stamped the smaller umbrella and cut it out. Click the image to see the detail. I love how that part turned out, but the rest of the card just isn’t cutting it for me. I hope to work in another parasol in a future card because I think it is pretty.

  1. Love that first umbrella card with the umbrella turned inside out. Perfect sentiment for it, too. Just a great idea!!

  2. Very cute idea Karen! Don’t you love it when you have an idea from the very moment you see a set and it works the way you want it to?

  3. I posted this comment over at PTI but had to tell you so you’d see it: that inside out umbrella is simply genius, and all week I’ve been thinking of different phrases to use when I CASE that card! Thanks for the great inspiration!

  4. These two cards are both so cute. I couldn’t begin to tell you which one is my favorite. Theey are both just adorable and unique. (and I know your mother . . . hehehe) Keep creating!
