Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow…

I love how this card turned out! I love the color scheme (Dawn McVey’s current Raspberry Suite challenge – 21). The layout took a bit. I tried a sketch but it wasn’t working. I tell ya, one of my personal challenges is breaking out of boxy designs. I usually go for straight lines, I didn’t want to mat my image, but it needed something. Then I thought about my Spellbinders Nestie dies that I hardly ever use. I think this is the first time I’ve used these particular ones and I love it. The embossed edge gives it just enough texture (or something) that the image doesn’t need matted. The scallop edge is handstitched – I can’t machine stitch that straight, lol – I used a Timeless Touches template. Oh and my favorite detail – well, besides the heart button in chocolate! – is the fringe. It was a pain, but I cut the base of the umbrella into fringe (just like the stamp image itself) and then ran my fingernail over it to make it “fluff” up.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. This is fabulous! I love that color combination. And is that title a spell from Harry Potter, or is it my imagination? πŸ™‚

  2. FAB card! LOVE all the details! And I can’t believe you hardly use your nesties! They are my go to when I just need that little defining something!
