Composed Polka Dots

Becky is hosting another Compose a Card challenge (#8). This was a harder challenge for me: black, white and green isn’t a color combo I would normally chose.

I started with the polka dot paper from the Black & White Basics pack. And added the satin green ribbon. I wanted to add a touch of black lace to the bottom similar to the little bit of tulle showing under the dress in the inspiration photo, but I don’t have any black lace. So I went with white tissue paper instead. I think that is better contrast against the black card base anyway.

I wasn’t sure what to do with the focal, but the other components to the card needed to be punches and buttons. I decided the greeting should be the focal. Of course the larger sentiments I have were too big for the area I wanted to cover or didn’t fit in an oval shape. I finally settled on a smaller sentiment and a felt flower accent.

Best Wishes

  1. I think this card looks dramatically beautiful – the rich green with the black. And neat use of the tissue (you could use it in this month’s PTI challenge – tissue paper).

  2. What a great idea with the tissue paper – love the little bit of different texture; great idea. And what you did with the colors is fantastic; striking card.
