Simple Shabby

This week’s challenge on the CAS forum on SCS is Shabby Chic (cas67). I would never think to pair clean and simple with shabby chic! I’ve always felt shabby chic is accomplished by lots of fru-fru and layers.

Shabby Chic is definitely not my style, but it was still fun to put together a little fru-fru. I think it needs something, I’m just not sure what. I think I need to add embossing to the background for texture, but I didn’t want a strong texture, so I wasn’t sure what to use. Feel free to leave suggestions!

The chipboard heart is so much pretty IRL. I took a plain chipboard shape, gave it a base coat of cream pigment ink and heat set. Then I covered that with Twink H20 (Golden Sand – which matches the kraft CS really well) and finished it up with a sprinkling of glitter. The piece reminds me of a sugar cookie which is sorta how I view shabby chic (a pain to put together nicely, but so worth it in the end).

  1. It’s lovely, Karen! I think it looks great the way it is, so no suggestions from me. I struggle with shabby chic style. I love it and wish i could pull it off better. I think you did a great job.

  2. Looks shabby chic to me, too. That’s one style I haven’t done. I struggle with the fru-fru stuff too. One day I’ll challenge myself to try. Anyway, I don’t have any suggestions – I think it looks great. But thinking maybe Michelle would say – hey, add some pins!

  3. LOL @ Lorraine.

Kraft and pink is always shabby to me – love that fun glitter heart too. You know what would be easy to add IF YOU WANTED TO – it’s just ink the edges in Vintage Cream…kinda hard to do CAS with shabby – but it’s a great card!

  4. Shabby Chic totally is an iced sugar cookie. It looks so pretty but takes lots of futzing and layering and such to pull it off. (I’m more a chocolate chip scrapper myself. LOL)

  5. beautiful!! I’d been wondering what stamp set that is 🙂 i’ve seen it some where before…. in orange! lovely card.
