It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You're On My Mind | by kth @ carefree creations

When I came across this set in my stamp catalog, I realized this little chickadee was the perfect color! The leaf image is stamped twice in the green colors. Please ignore the smudge sentiment…sigh.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

Thanks for stopping by!

I felt this sketch was a perfect opportunity to use up some pattern paper! The mat around the banner is hand-cut (don’t look too closely, lol).

And here is my take:

Keep Swimming | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I don’t know what to do for color challenges, I usually use google (i.e., this time I did “inspiration blue yellow purple”). One of the first images shown was a yellow tang in front of purple coral. That’s my card done, lol.

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Hello | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I first saw this sketch, I saw hexagons (not octos) and that got me thinking bees. (And of course that got me thinking about Dragon Friends.)

This card came together pretty quickly.

CASology – Ball

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – BALL!

Here is my take:

You've Got This! | by karen h @ carefree creations

It might be a little hard to see the ball on this card, but it is there – it is a ball (©?) jar!

Once I took my photo, I noticed just how perfectly the stems of the flowers flow from the sentiment and let me tell you, I had NO IDEA that was happening…I stamped the jar & flowers first and then centered the sentiment. I’m so happy (and so mad) that it worked out that way (mad = it is so perfect that I really wish it was intentional, lol).

This challenge is open through August, so I hope you will join us!

CC&S #381 – High Five

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

High Five | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is a great classic sketch. This idea came pretty quickly.

The scallop die cuts a strip with only 1 side having scallops. I cut two of these and snugged them up next to each other. The yellow strip hides the seam. I stamped my greeting on the scallop layer first, then on the yellow strip – lining it up when adhering it to the card.

CC&S #380 – Magical Holiday

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Magical Holiday | by karen h @ carefree creations

While I was looking through my index, I noticed that similar colors were used in the sample provided with this stamp set, so a little cheat-y….but done is done 🙂

I used PTI’s Rustic White cardstock – it has little flecks in it and I like how it adds a bit of texture to a one-layer card.

CC&S #379 – Mousy Kisses

I’m a little late for the latest CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out this cool sketch:

And here is my take:

Mousy Kisses | by karen h @ carefree creations

This may be late, but I’m happy it is….I tried to stamp on Monday but my brain just would not focus. I had this set chosen and on my desk, but that was as far as I could get. Today felt like a time to try again.

I don’t know about y’all but I seem to make my cards all backwards. I almost always start with the background…sometimes it works, but others it isn’t ideal. This time I was thinking either light blue or peach for the background but I had a (low-grade) epiphany and thought, well stamp the real things first. I had my green swatches out picking holly colors and when I was moving stuff around to make room to figure out the background, I picked up the pieces and laid them aside – on the swatches…and this happened, lol. I would never have thought of this bright green, but I love it.

To get the mouse ears this way, I did a bunch of masking.

Why is mousy spelled this way? I really want that e in there. Man I hate language, lol. I would have done well way back when you could spell things any ole way you wanted (especially as I still do that a lot – I’m really glad I’m a programmer, no one will ever guess my variables, lol…don’t worry folks, I work for myself so no one has to deal with it but me).

Um, now that I’m posting, I just realize this sketch had a space for the sentiment…oops! You know for someone who loves to follow instructions, I kinda suck at it 😀

So normally I would cut the last couple of paragraphs, but the world is on fire and I just don’t have any spoons for censoring myself (I am still cutting the cussing, so ….it could be worse). Does anyone really read these any way….or is that just me that looks at the pretty pictures and moves on?!

Sending Christmas Kisses

CC&S #378 – Hello Summer

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Hello Summer | by karen h @ carefree creations

I’ve had these colors and the image selected for months! I hate summer (heat) but I love the bright/bold colors that I always associate with summer.

The added detail layers to the berries was stamped in the same grey as the sentiment – I love how it takes on the color underneath.
