Summer Hops

PTI Blog Hop

It is that time again – the monthly PTI Blog Hop! This month’s challenge was to use the color yellow. I love PTI’s Lemon Tart color – it is so bright and cheery; I always smile with that color.

I played with my swatches and came up with a bright summery color combo – Hibiscus Burst, Lemon Tart, and Spring Rain. The layout is from the DD sketch challenge for May over on SCS. The clouds were cut out after using a template to draw them. I had tried to use Bitty Dot paper for the clouds, but once I did the faux stitching it was way too many dots! The yellow panel has the ornamental image from the Bird Watching set repetitively stamped in Lemon ink, but it is hard to see.

Here is a picture of the inside. I really liked the bitty dot clouds, so I had to use one! I think the dot pattern paper complements the faux stitching on the front. And since there is no sentiment on the front, I added one here.

  1. Looks nice with the Spring Rain combo, and the sentiment on the inside is too cute. Lemon Tart always makes me smile too.

  2. Oh, I recognized this sketch right away!! Perfect!! Thanks for using that sketch AND I love the gorgeous colours in your card! They all work together beautifully!!

  3. I love how you used the clouds to “mat” your main image!! This is such a great card – love all the details about it (like the border of pink flowers below the birdhouses). I really like your other cards too… the umbrella cards (I think it’s the next post) came out great too. You have a great stamping style – So creative!!

  4. Love your fun bird and button detail. I also thought the could on the inside was great as well. Thanks again for positng my link. I was just not able to be there in time. These darn friends we are visiting actually wanted to eat LOL!

    It’s a good life!

  5. Love the cheery spring colors! Love the stitching detail. And the inside of the card inspires me, too. Beautiful work. I can’t wait to ink up my Bird Watching set.
