Thinking of You

Thinking of You - by karen @ carefree creations

On a stamping roll this morning 🙂

This time I took on the latest CAS Colours & Sketches challenge (#117) – a sketch…and a great one at that (very versatile/classic).

Part of the reason I have trouble stamping is that I don’t know what to do with my cards. I’ve joined groups where you send them to other folks in the group, but that gets old quick (not sure why). Now that I work, I’m thinking I might start taking my cards in (not for sale, but maybe some commissions will come of it). I like that idea because then I can do whatever sort of cards I want…and if I get artsy and no one wants it, no big deal.

Anyway. This was a very quick & easy card. I don’t know why I went in this direction (masculine and sympathy/thinking of you) – though I think the lack of restriction in my own stamping agenda left the theme open and I haven’t done masculine in a long time. Honestly, though, this doesn’t have to be a masculine card, it really can be for anyone.

Since Papertrey has basically stopped putting out new colors, I’ve been on a mission to find some more colors to fill in what I have. I’ve been trying My Favorite Things and Simon Says Stamp (because they do paper as well as ink…and that is important to me). This card uses an MFT color – Sour Apple…and I *love* the color! I will say, the paper for MFT Sour Apple and SSS Green Apple are almost identical, so I might try the SSS ink to see how they compare.

Thanks for taking a peek!

  1. I like how you’ve popped the sentiment panel over the leaves. The twine and the woodgrain panel go well with the botanical feel of the card. It’s a wonderful take on our CC&S sketch, and I’m so glad you joined us this week! It’s great to see you crafting again! 🙂

  2. Love this woodland interpretation of the sketch. And I know what you mean about what to do with completed cards, but if it gives you pleasure creating them, then for me that’s the most important thing. Thanks for joining in at CC&S, hope to see you play again soon.

  3. This is beautiful Karen! I love the really natural look about it!
Thanks for joining us at CAS-Colours and Sketches this week!

  4. I like the ‘wood’ theme you’ve got going here, great use of the sketch. I swap a few cards through groups on FB and always send my work colleagues a hand made card. I also give my mum a big pack as a present at Christmas so she can send them throughout the year. That seems to take care of mine! Thanks for playing along at CC&S
