Pattern Play

Mother's Day - by karen @ carefree creations

My last mother’s day card – this one for my mom (she reads my blog, so I had to wait til last minute to post).

I wanted to create a card that she would like – so I chose to work in patterns and layers. Patterns are not easy for me, so I used a paper pack so I knew the pieces would work together.

To add a bit of texture, I did a bookbinding stitch on the sentiment panel – using a Japanese Side Stitch. I like this stitch because even the inside looks nice.

Since I was mailing a package and not just a card, I could get a little lumpy with the accents. I added a bunch of rhinestones which I colored with an alcohol marker in a color very similar to Hello Honey which is used in the pattern papers.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Happy Mother’s Day
