Autumn Leaves

So last week as I was making a fruit salad, I was inspired by the colors:

Fruit Salad Inspiration

Last night I sat down to make a card from it. I decided to do the wet paper watercolor technique (again – I love that technique!). I ended up using distress inks, but I tried to stay close to the colors I chose originally.

When I was done with that, I had no idea what to do. But then I found the Fab Friday Challenge #74 – which was a perfect sketch!

I’m usually a straight layers kinda gal, so I know I would never have made this card without the sketch challenge. So happy with this card – thanks Fab Friday Challenge!

Thanks for taking a peek!

  1. So glad we could get you out of your comfort zone with this sketch! I love that watercolored background, such a fabulous, rich set of colors! Thanks for sharing at Fab Friday!

  2. Just beautiful! I love how the front panel really pops against the two neutral backgrounds. I love this card. Thank you so much for playing along with this Fab Friday sketch challenge!

  3. Hi Karen,
Thanks for your comment! I popped by to see your blog and I am so impressed with your lovely work.
This card is a great take on the sketch. The lined paper echoes the veining in the leaves and works so well with the wonky angles of the sketch too. I love the colors and pretty sponging! I’m so glad you played along with us at Fab Friday!
