It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:
And here is my take:
Man, I have been on a roll with one-layer cards this week. Normally I find them daunting, but these past few ones have just kinda created themselves.
I know you may be wondering where the orange and yellow from the color combo are – they are the flame. The candle is stamped in two parts – the outline and the pattern fill. When I stamped the the outline, I inked the wick & flame piece with orange. Then, when stamping the flame, I first stamped in yellow and then went back and did a partial inking of the flame image with orange. Of course then I added a tiny bit of stickles, so it is pretty hard to see…but those colors are there!
After stamping the images and the “make a wish” sentiment, I was going to call it done, but it didn’t feel completed – I think because I had offset it, but probably a little too much so it just felt off center. I decided a line or something from the image to the card edge would solve the problem, but I didn’t like the feel of such a solid thing as a line. I did think about bling or a line of dots, but I thought a secondary sentiment would be perfect.
The secondary sentiment had to be pieced together. There is no “on” in the set, so I had to make it with selective inking of an “o” and “n”. The “your” and “day” are part of the same sentiment, but there was an extra word in the middle that I didn’t have room for; so that required selective inking too. It isn’t very straight, but it works.
I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!
Thanks for stopping by!

CAS perfection, love how you have crossed the candles, really adds to the impact of the design. Apologies for my delay in commenting. Hugs Bev x
Karen – I really like how the secondary sentiment pulls this all together. A really good CAS card. Liz x
