It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:
And here is my take:
I admit it, this *was* a challenge! Finding something where all 3 colors looked good to me was difficult! The way I got to this (which I love) was to remember techniques for combining pattern paper that I learned while scrapbooking. One technique was to ink the edges of pieces you were placing together so that the inked edges helped unify them. Once I started thinking in that direction, I went to stained glass (which I don’t have any stamps/dies for) but that led me to this beautiful butterfly die!
I actually have the other die that looks just like the leafy branch I used but is an outline. I thought about using it and doing the same piecing technique, but it was too much black. Instead, I chose a label sentiment over the green leafy branch to continue the “unifying” effect of black. This way the focus is on the butterfly and sentiment.
I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!
Thanks for stopping by!
A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).
Ink: Graphite Brilliance (Tsukineko);
Paper: White (Papertrey Ink); Fresh Fig, Crushed Curry, Lemon Lime Twist (Stampin’Up);
Other: Vivienne Butterfly die, Lorelai Leaf die (Memory Box);
I am glad that I wasn’t the only one who found this weeks colours ‘challenging’! Love your use of them, awesome die cuts and cheerful Spring card. Hugs Bev x
This is a wonderful card. I love the bold and graphic nature of the butterfly. A great way to use the colors!
I too struggled with these colors. I was last minute (I think I was the last one to put mine in ) because I couldn’t come up with anything. This worked beautifully! That butterfly is great.
Love what you did with this butterfly, Karen!! It’s such a pretty card.
All your hard work with the paper piecing paid off on that beautiful butterfly. x
Wow~Wow~Wow~
Love how you’ve used the colors for the butterfly! It’s really amazing!
