CASology – Zodiac

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – Zodiac!

Here is my take:

Follow Your Own Star | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love astrology – for the fun of it…I know it shouldn’t rule decision making. So that is the message of my card….have fun, but follow your own star – do your own thing.

To make this card, I embossed the zodiac circle with a glitter embossing powder. The swoosh was hand-drawn and cut out. The star is cut from shiny gold paper…hard to get that to show.

I did take a photo of the glitter embossing:

Check back next week when I’ll have more inspiration from this challenge (hint: I’m a Leo ;)!

CC&S #366 – Found You

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Happy I Found You | by karen h @ carefree creations

My focal panel is a little bit smaller than the sketch, but since it was stamped with a busy pattern, I didn’t want it to be overpowering.

This was super easy to make – just did all my stamping on colored cardstock and die cut the pieces.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

CASology – Go Fly a [Kite]

There is still time to play along with the CASology challenge – Kite!

I thought I’d post some more inspiration for you:

Sky is the Limit | by karen h @ carefree creations

I used a previous CC&S sketch because it just fit so well with the Kite theme – I really liked the feel of the kite going off the page.

I did some paper piecing for the kite using the wonderfully cheery Rainbow Sherbet paper pack.

You have another week to get your card made – hope you join us!

CC&S #365 – Think Spring

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Think Spring | by karen h @ carefree creations

These colors are so soft and sweet. I don’t have a need for Easter cards, so I went with a spring motif.

CASology – Kite

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – KITE!

Here is my take:

Tons of Fun | by karen h @ carefree creations

I don’t have too many kites in my stash, but this little dude was just too cute not to stamp.

The kite image is partially inked (just the kite & bow) and then I used a liner pen to add the string.

Check back next week when I’ll have more inspiration from this challenge!

CC&S #364 – So Very Kind

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You Are So Kind | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love these images – great energy to all the overlapping lines. And all the lines give the image extra real-estate so that the color comes through better than just a plain outline.

It’s a little hard to tell, but the “burst” inside the flower is the paler peach color.

There is still time to play along with the CASology challenge – TEA!

I thought I’d post some more inspiration for you:

Very Jane | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I was designing for this challenge I pulled together all of my tea-based images. I hadn’t used this set in forever and I was really feeling that sentiment. I just had to pair it all with this awesome Jane Austen pattern paper!

CC&S #363 – Grateful for You

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

So Grateful for You | by karen h @ carefree creations

I really wanted to use this cool mushroom image. Even though the sketch shows a layer, I made sure to tuck my image way down at the bottom like the sketch shows. And I added some inking at the bottom to “nod” to that layer in the sketch.

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – Tea!

Here is my take:

Steep Stir Enjoy | by karen h @ carefree creations

My cards have been feeling a bit formulaic to me lately, so I wanted a different design. I decided to make my own pattern paper and use just a bit for a CAS design.

CC&S #362 – Fantastic Job

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Fantastic Job | by karen h @ carefree creations

I decided to do a graphic design for these colors. Since the pink is pretty intense and it would take focus, I used it as the sentiment color. The other two colors supported the design with fun shapes.
