CC&S Celebrates 300!

Celebrate You | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is an anniversary challenge for CC&S! This challenge is in its 6th year! To celebrate – I wanted to thank our players – because without you, we wouldn’t be here! Thank you to all those who join us – You. Are. Amazing!

I chose fireworks to help the celebration. The firework stamps are 2-step images, so I used two shades of color when stamping. I didn’t want the sentiment to overwhelm the delicate fireworks, so I used very pale grey colors.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

Thanks for stopping by!

Solstice Foliage | by karen h @ carefree creations

With these colors my mind went immediately to winter greenery.

I have such a hard time with dies! Some dies are meant to be lined up after you stamp; others are meant to be cut first – either way I mess it up! For the the large pinecone, I fussy cut it because it wasn’t as intricate as the flowers or pine bough.

The fern just above the ribbon bow was added after the card was all put together. My artistic-eye seems to work better through the camera lens. I was gonna just leave it, but this time it felt too lopsided without. The flower die is popped-up with dimensional adhesive so it was easy to peel that off. I pulled the ribbon down as much as I could and used a piece of paper to mask everything else (I also only inked the tip of the fern). Honestly, I’m surprised it worked, lol!

You are the Best | by karen h @ carefree creations

My inspiration for this comes from two places. The layout is the 3rd sketch in Papertrey’s October inspiration. The way I stamped the butterflies & their outlines was inspired by some old Stampin’Up paper – Cutie Pie (which has very similar colors to this challenge).

Holiday Springs | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is an “extra” Tuesday in the month, so we have a Timeless Tuesday challenge – and old CC&S sketch paired with retired colors.

These double challenges are usually hard for me, but this combo came together easily! To add a touch of interest, especially as I wasn’t matting the hanging panel, I used a die with a decorative edge.

I’m not usually a ribbon user, but the ribbon was the perfect way to add a “base” for the stamping.

Thank You | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I first saw the sketch, my brain thought ocean scene (and didn’t want to let go). I wasn’t sure how to keep that idea CAS, but then decided to use pastel/subtle colors.

Instead of three separate stripes, I did a wavey die; but, otherwise, I tried to keep very close to the sketch.

Muddy Hogs | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I saw Blushing Bride as a color I immediately decided to use the piggy set. With the medium brown included, I thought about a pig in mud. I watercolored my image to get the look I wanted. The suede looks more like chocolate when watercolored, but suede is indeed what I used.

Life is Sweet

Life is Sweet | by karen h @ carefree creations

Since the sketch specifically said NOT geometric, I went organic. As a pairing to the berries, I used a 3d embossing folder in a weave pattern.

Oceans of Joy

Oceans of Joy | by karen h @ carefree creations

A little smudge of color to make the white die cut pop. I say white, but it is more cream. I used watercolor paper to make the entire card – including the die cut (because that sorta matchy-matchy makes me happy).

Lucky Clover | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is such a versatile sketch! I had lots of ideas, but these clover dies were definitely calling my name!

I knew I would use three different greens for the die cuts, but my kid helped me by picking gold for the sentiment – I never think about metallics – but this is perfect!

Halloween Watchers

Halloween Watchers | by karen h @ carefree creations

My mojo was starting to wane when I made this. Originally I was going to try to make something other than a Halloween card….but decided it wasn’t worth hurting my head over.

I love how this turned out! I bought this set when it went on clearance sale months ago – and I bought it to make a card just like this (I love all those eyes!!).

I did end up using a different purple because I really do not like the Fig color. Razzleberry is fairly similar but just seems a bit brighter purple.

I stamped the eyes in visual triangles by color.
