CASology – Sweetheart

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – Sweetheart!

Here is my take:

you have my heart | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love this sheep set, but I don’t think I’ve actually used it yet. This little guy with the heart caught my eye for this challenge.

Since there isn’t much to it, I offset it on the card base and used a die to emboss a circle ’round it all. Well, I didn’t have a stitched circle so I faked it with the Arch die…and it works perfectly (and saved me a few bucks from having to buy a die that, until now, I didn’t think I needed).

Oh, and I have a tip for any newbies reading this. I don’t have the dies for this because they are fairly easy images to cut out, but I didn’t want a white outline, so I trimmed as close as I could. That leaves little bits of white that show up on dark cardstock (granted, probably wouldn’t have been much of a problem for this card). If you run a black marker around the edge of the cut out, it neatens it up and “finishes” it. See…

CASology – Dragonfly

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – DRAGON!

Here is my take:

Birthday Flyby | by karen h @ carefree creations

I have a dragonfly stamp, but it isn’t something I like and I wasn’t feeling it. My kiddo was the one that suggested a dragon fly(ing). Definitely loved that idea – it was perfect!

My selection of Copics is a bit limited and I didn’t have a dark enough orange to really make this image pop, but knowing this I chose to do a complementary color scheme so that in itself would add a touch of pop.

CC&S #310 – Full of Sunshine

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Full of Sunshine | by karen h @ carefree creations

I was stumped a little by this sketch, but after going through my supply index, I found the cloud die and worked from there.

The border/edge dies were used to cut the non straight sides; the stitched frame die did the perforations on the straight sides. My first thought was the dies would go edge to edge, but once I added the stitched sides and then trimmed them the same margin as the curved edges, then the die was shorter than the card. I actually liked that look!

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

CASology – North

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – NORTH!

Here is my take:

Waving Hi | by karen h @ carefree creations

I let my kiddo pick the stamp set for this card – and the image. Of course they picked the smallest bear! Since the image is small, I figured I’d place it up the card like it was far away (which is appropriate since it is waving). I decided to have him standing at the edge of water. I like sentiment collages, so I thought I’d add one for this card – and put it in the water so it didn’t detract from the scene.

The bear is colored with Copics with the no-line technique.

CC&S Celebrates 300!

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Celebrate You | by karen h @ carefree creations

This is an anniversary challenge for CC&S! This challenge is in its 6th year! To celebrate – I wanted to thank our players – because without you, we wouldn’t be here! Thank you to all those who join us – You. Are. Amazing!

I chose fireworks to help the celebration. The firework stamps are 2-step images, so I used two shades of color when stamping. I didn’t want the sentiment to overwhelm the delicate fireworks, so I used very pale grey colors.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

CASology – Girl

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – GIRL!

Here is my take:

Hope Santa Spoils You | by karen h @ carefree creations

I like candy color christmas colors. For this card, I started with the green card base. When coloring the child image, I wanted to bring the green into the image, but didn’t want it to be the only color. On the coat I did a plaid pattern to work in the green.

When stamping the sentiment, I did start with the softest of the two curve dies. I cut little slits between the two lines and also between the bottom words. Those snips let me bend the photopolymer. I used a MISTI to help me position and work on the curve before stamping.

I hope you join us at CASology – and you have 2 weeks to do so! For more inspiration, check out the other design team members:

CASology – Menu

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – MENU!

Here is my take:

Love is on the Menu | by karen h @ carefree creations

I bought this chef set because I adored it, but I don’t think I’ve inked it up yet, so when I saw this cue, I knew I wanted to use this set! The sentiment is done on the computer. I used nesting rectangle dies to make the frame around it.

Cascading Triangles

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Hello | by karen h @ carefree creations

I love me a rainbow. When I saw this cascading sketch, I knew I would do a rainbow. I figured a geometric shape would work well with that.

Fairly straight forward card. I took a piece of card stock, blended the inks on and then die cut the shapes out.

May All Your Wildest Dreams Come True

There is still time to play along with the CASology challenge – CLOUD; it is an extended deadline!

I thought I’d post some more inspiration for you:

Dreams Come True | by karen h @ carefree creations

My other card was dark, so I thought I’d go light and fluffy for this one.

I had the HARDEST time coloring this unicorn (I think I need more pale color markers?) – this is my third iteration and I’m still not satisfied, but, ya know, done is done.

I wanted to add a final touch, but couldn’t think of anything to do and have the card stay CAS.

I hope you join us at CASology!
