On Friday, SCS hosted a mini virtual stamp night. There were 5 challenges; sadly I only managed one. The challenge was to use fabric on a card (may11vsnmini1).
It took me a bit of time to figure out how to use fabric, mostly because my fabric selection is pretty lame. I decided to use the white & off-white fabric I had to make butterflies. Of course that meant I needed a dark base for them. That had me scratching my head (I have a hard time actually using pattern paper, so I don’t turn to it often). Thankfully I remembered a technique that I don’t use often – sanding embossed paper that has a white-core.
Since I only have a couple different colors of white-core paper, I opted to use Razzleberry and make an “elegant/classic” style. I do like how it ended up.
Colors: Rich Razzleberry, Black, White;
Other: Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, Razzleberry Prints DSP, Decorative Label punch, Black Satin ribbon; Butterfly dies (PTI – but SU has comparable); Black Rhinestones (Kaiser);
This is beautiful. Your distressed card stock is a wonderful background for that lovely butterfly, and your black ribbon is such a wonderful embellishment.
Love the sanding on the embossing and your pretty fabric Butterfly! I’d say you aced the SCS challenge!
