Golden Anniversary

I created this card for my in-laws who celebrated 50 years together this year! I am very lucky that I adore my in-laws – they really are great people!

I really wanted an elegant card and since this was their golden anniversary, I kept it to just gold and white.

The flower is a die from MFT. I had a really hard time getting it to roll, but I think I was just trying too hard. Once I relaxed about it, it came together much easier.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Congratulations

Halloween Stitches

During the month of September I put together a 5 week newsletter that involved “stitching” (for my mom’s SU group). Two of the cards were Halloween themed, so I’m posting them together. I’ll post the other cards in the future.

First up is a hand-stitched web – done with clear filament. To create the web, I started by drawing the lines on the back-side and then pierced the places the lines intersected.

The rest of the card is pretty simple. I used markers to color the candelabra and then cut it out. The sentiment is actually a little of both sentiments from the Wicked Cool set. Again I used markers to selectively color the parts I wanted to use. I don’t bother with a stamp-a-ma-jig…which is why ‘halloween’ is a bit crooked, oh well 🙂

The next card was meant to be a funny card. I have no idea who I would send this too – but thankfully I don’t have to worry about it, the card is in the safety of mom’s stamp room.

The foot was hand drawn, but I’ve conveniently included it here as a download, if you so desire, lol.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Set

Back in May, I created this card set to give as an end-of-school-year gift. The card set was two of each of these designs.

First up a “thinking of you”. I wanted a calming feel, so I went with purples.

The second card is done in blues – I believe I used Marina Mist. The image is actually stamped twice to have the same “tall” feel as the other two cards.

Finally, a birthday card. I wanted a cheerful card, so I went with yellows. I think cardstock is Lemon Tart (PTI) and ink is Daffodil Delight (SU);

Bookmarks

I created some bookmarks back in May for an end-of-school-year gift. I like how they turned out, so I’m posting here (finally).

First up is a pretty simple bookmark. I cut Aqua Mist cardstock to fit in the bookmark sleeve. Then I cut a piece of Bitty Dot paper in Spring Moss, Aqua Mist, Chocolate, and Melon. I stitched the pattern paper bits to the cardstock. I added the sentiment and scallop circle die and finished it up with some twill ribbon.

Next up is a paperclip bookmark. I love making these because I love using mine. To create this one I die cut the flowers from chipboard and felt (2 pieces each – one for the front, the other for the back). The leaves were die cut from the Sending You die set (just the big leaf). I added the leaf details by stitching with thread.

I used Melon & Terracotta for the flowers and Chartreuse for the leaves.

The final bookmark is by far my favorite one. I love this flower set and coloring it was so fun. This bookmark is much larger than the first one. (I got my sleeves from Clear Bags: small &large.)

Colors for this: Aqua Mist cardstock and the Melon Berry Copic trio. I don’t remember which greens I used – sorry.

When I was done coloring, I went back and added glitter to the shadow bits. And you can see better that I also outlined the image with a light blue Copic.

Girl Talk

I created this card for my niece.

No challenge, just have been wanting to use this set 🙂 I’ve had this idea in my head since I bought the set. Creating this card was fun!

The bubble in the middle that says “hello” is popped up with dimensionals. On the inside of the card I have the same bubble but it says “miss u”.

Oh and something I learned. To get a die cut that isn’t marred on the back (so you can flip it over to face the other way) I took a piece of cardstock and folded it in half. Then ran that through the big shot. The die cut that is inside – closest to the die – will not have any marks on the back, so you can easily flip it over to stamp on the back. Of course, you don’t have the wonderful edge, but that isn’t all that noticeable.

Autumn Birthday

I created this card for a friend’s birthday this week. I used a sketch from SCS (cas138).

I recently received the Autumn Abundance set (won it during a countdown). It isn’t a set I thought I would want, but I love it. It is sorta small for coloring (at least for me), but I gave it a go 🙂

To do the sentiment, I started by stamping a line from Faux Ribbon. Then I inked up the top part of the sentiment, stamped it; cleaned the stamp and stamped the bottom part.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Fall Anniversary

My brother and his wife will be celebrating 5 years together next week. She loves fall colors and I recently purchased the Spice Cake paper from Stampin Up so I used that as my starting point. I thought today’s sketch by Iwona (ssc32) was a perfect fit.

It is hard to see in the photo, but the flower petals have glitter on the edges.

Oh, and the little swirlys on the tag are a perfect fit for this die, even though they are a PTI stamp (Boxes Bags & Tags).

Yuletide Blessings

I created this card for the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge (wmsc68). This was a fun sketch to figure out.

I did some layering (paper tole I think it is called) on the pine cones to help them pop a bit.
