Card 6 of 7:
OK, so I got a little artsy with this one…I love it!!
I really wanted to do a poinsettia card and, no idea why, but doing a color wash behind the flower came to my mind. Instead of a color wash though, I decided to break out my distress inks (still getting used to having/using them).
After inking the background I flicked water to add that final artsy touch.
The sentiment is gold embossed and the flower is popped up.
This shade of distress ink (pine needles) went really well with the old Forest Foliage cardstock from SU – thankfully I had a handful of sheets. Not sure what I’m going to do when I run out…that was a fabulous color!

Card 5 of 7:
This card is a CASE of the layout from Jax’s autumn card.
A one layer card – woo hoo!
Thanks for taking a peek!
Card 4 of 7:
Very simple and quick card. I started with the sentiment – love that it called for front & center treatment. Framed it with a bow and poinsettia.
Oh and I think this is the first time I used the Delicata ink – but it definitely won’t be the last…such a luxurious ink!

Card 3 of 7:
Another stamp set I fell in love with: Ornamental Pine! Most of my pine bough images are small, so I easily justified the purchase of this set.
My design called for pine cones that would be the focal point. The pine cones in the stamp set were too small, so I pulled out Peaceful Wishes.
The kraft/crumb cake looking strip at the top is really the old gold paper SU carried (maybe still does??…too lazy to get my catalog from across the room).
This is the only card with ribbon, but, since the knot is small and fits between the popped up pinecones, I think it will mail fine.
Oh and the plaid is handmade (I was inspired by a Papertrey Ink Make it Monday video).

Card 2 of 7:
I really love this image from the SU Holiday catalog….probably because I actually like the song 🙂
For the coloring of this image, I copied Tanja Kolar’s beautiful card. If I had that embossing frame I would have just completely CASEd the card.
I used what I had, and I really liked the idea of framing the image, so I made a frame using my favorite Stitched Rectangle dies. The tree is cut out and popped up – the white panel behind the tree is woodgrain embossed.
I loved this card so much I made an extra for my own stash!

Each year I make a bunch of cards for a friend of my mom’s (she’s in a care facility). I really don’t like mass producing, so I make 4 each of 7 designs. And since these cards are for folks who aren’t involved with handmade cards, I try to keep them very simple and not to artsy. In addition, the mailing of the cards has to be kept simple – so nothing bulky.
Over the next week I’ll share the designs for this year’s cards. After that I’ll probably disappear for a while again (not another break from work until Christmas).
Here is card 1 of 7:
This first card was CASE’d from Dawn Olchefske. I fell in love with her card when I saw it last year. I didn’t have the same stamps, but I recreated with what I had. I wish my santa image was denser to help with the balance, but I’m ok with how this turned out.
The belt buckle was created with a square of silver foil paper and just a couple slits with an exacto knife. The ribbon is satin.

It has been so long since I stamped! I got lots of time this week – and I’ll share the results of my efforts over the next week.
This card was created for my mom’s December stamp camp.
My requirements were to use Wondrous Wreath. Mom had already used this set a month or so ago, so I wanted to make a card that didn’t look like that one.

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge: #93 – sketch.
And here is my take:
If you can’t see it, then let me first say that I rotated the sketch 180° (or flipped it upside down).
I guess I have Christmas on the brain…when trying to decide what to use as the two arrow-things in the sketch I saw pine branches and couldn’t move away from that.
I really wanted a plaid pattern at the top, but I’m using what I have! The paper has “cranberry crisp” listed as a color. I have the stitched ribbon that came out with that color, but oh boy it does not match very well. Instead I dug into my red ribbon box and found some dark red twine. I thought the twine added to the rustic feel of the card (or um makes the card feel rustic….something like that anyway).

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge: #92 – colours.
And here is my take:
I always see bees when yellow and black are together, but I really didn’t want that this time. So I thought, “OK, if black is just a sentiment color that leaves yellow – lots of it….what can I use.” And of course sunshine came to mind.
I got to use some new to me stamps and dies and it was fun to put this together!
I really had no idea that the sun image from Kinda Eclectic was so huge – but I love that it is!
