Trio of Spiders

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Trio of Spiders | by karen @ carefree creations

Most of the stamps are from the retired Bite Me photopolymer set from Stampin’Up. I needed 3 spiders though, so I also grabbed my Spooky Sweets 2 set from Papertrey. All 3 spiders are fussy cut (that was a bit intense!) because with this being so simple and hardly any color, I needed something for depth/interest. The webs are embossed. I dragged my Versamark pad along the edge and embossed that as well. The sentiment is stamped in grey.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

Happy Halloween

Ink: Graphite Black Brilliance, Versamark (Tsukineko); Charcoal (Palette);
Paper: Winter Wisteria (PTI);
Other: Silver Pearl embossing (Wow);

Sympathy Botanicals

Sadly I needed a couple sympathy cards this past month. I only had one in my stash, so I needed to create one. As with most folks, I find it hard to stamp these cards when I need them. You’ll probably see more over the next few months so I can build up my stash again.

Sympathy Botanicals | by karen @ carefree creations

I picked three colors that were muted and, to me, peaceful. I used the botanical images to lead to the sentiment.

The frame is three layers. I used a Japanese screw punch to create the holes.

Ink: Winter Wisteria, Simply Chartreuse, Ocean Tides, Dark Chocolate (Papertey Ink – PTI);

Other: Bookplates die (PS); twine (Stampin’Up);

Elegant Thanksgiving

You know how you get an idea in your head and it won’t go away until you embrace it? I made this card for the latest CC&S challenge, but felt it was a little too much for a clean and simple challenge. Still, I really like this card!

Except for the sentiment, all the images are from one set! I used the flourishes to make a nest for the pumpkins and the medallion to create the background.

The pumpkins are fussy cut, but that was easy enough.

Happy Thanksgiving
Stamps: Fall Elegance, Keep it Simple – Thanksgiving (Papertrey Ink – PTI);
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz (Stampin’Up – SU); Kraft, Dark Chocolate (PTI);

Thankful for You

Thankful for You | by karen @ carefree creations

Yay – a one-layer card! I think I went the direct opposite from the card I originally made for this challenge (I’ll post it later this week). To give this card some interest, I stamped the tree leaves in two colors.

Happy Fall

Happy Fall | by karen @ carefree creations

I’m so ready for autumn!

I almost always reach for a white card base, but I wanted something different this time. Once I knew what I was stamping – and that I could die cut them all out, my base could be any color. I like this pale blue – and it adds just enough crisp feeling to the autumn colors.

You’re a Gem

This is actually the first card I made for the latest CC&S challenge.

You're a Gem | by karen @ carefree creations

When I was done, I just felt it was a little too busy for a CAS card (for my level of comfort). Still, a pretty card and worth sharing.

Framed in Regals

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Framed in Regals | by karen @ carefree creations

This was a challenging one for me. While I love regal colors in my wardrobe, I usually create with brights or earth tones. Since these colors were so close in value, I picked stamps that included details to help provide the interest/texture.

Perfect in My Book | by karen @ carefree creations

I love books. My house is filled with books. When this set was released I bought it immediately, but this is the first time I’ve used the set. It fit perfectly with the sketch!

Autumn Vine

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Autumn Vine | by karen @ carefree creations

This color scheme made me think of Autumn. I wasn’t ready to break out the pumpkins yet, so I went with a vine and gingham combination. The Vine & Berry set is one of my favorites from way back.

My layout was somewhat decided by the imperfect stamping of the wheel. I used the vine to cover up the worst of the overlap. The vine is fussy cut and the sentiment is popped-up but nestled in the vine.

A Rose for Your Day

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Enjoy This Day | by karen @ carefree creations

This week’s colors are so soft – and perfect for florals! I feel like this is a bit modern with the grey outline so it gives these retired colors some new life.

The rose has two patterns of pink – the inner petals have a darker polka dot and the outer petals have a white polka dot. I thought it was a cool way to add a touch of dimension.
