Glad You’re Home

by karen @ carefree creations - Glad U R Home

My kiddo has been on a week-long school field trip and we have missed them! I thought I’d make sure they knew we all were thinking of them by creating a card to show them we were glad they were finally back home!

I’m entering this in the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge – Anything Goes.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Dreaming of Christmas

by karen @ carefree creations - Dreaming of Christmas

I created this card for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge – this week is a photo inspiration.

I really loved the dreamy feeling of the photo, which is how I got to my card concept! I sponged around the card base to continue the dreamy feeling.

I kept the colors really muted and soft/pastel – again, as a nod to the photo.

My Universe

by Karen @ carefree creations - My Universe

I stamped this card for the Paper Smooches Spark Challenge – Sketch.

The planet at the bottom was created using some scrap paper – left over from some technique – but I have no recollection of it, so I don’t know what it was.

After stamping the stars in on the card base, I decided to balance it out with some splatters at the top of the focal panel. I used H2Os for the splatter.

Fall Rainbow

by Karen @ carefree creations - Fall Rainbow

I was inspired to stamp today. Specifically by this challenge (Inspired Challenges) – which is a photo of leaves in fabulous fall colors.

I also use the current Seize the Sketch challenge for the layout. I’m so happy to have found another sketch challenge!

If I could learn how to “sprinkle” enamel dots/sequins/the-like, I would have added them, but that sort of embellishing confounds me.

Birthday Flowers

by Karen @ carefree creations - Mod Flowers

This card is for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge – this week is a trend challenge: flowers. I love flowers so I knew I had to participate in this challenge.

This is another card I made this past Monday (when I did 7 in 1 day!) and it was done right before bedtime….I’m surprise my brain lasted, but I love how the card turned out!

The flowers and leaves are from Reflections. I did a bunch of stamping on scrap paper before deciding how exactly I would stamp the leaves. I wanted a mod feel to them.

I kept the layout simple (mostly because at the time I had run out of sketch challenges, lol) and it was late. The flowers are hand-cut and adhered with just a dot of glue in the center, so the petals can be fluffed for dimension.

Stamps: Reflections, Salutations (Paper Smooches);
Ink/Card Stock: White, Black, Limeade Ice, Melon Berry (PTI);
Other: rhinestones (Hero Arts);

Monster Cards

The second VSN Mini challenge of the evening is mine!! The idea is to use the same stamp set and create 2 cards – one masculine, one feminine. Here are my cards:

I actually had a lot of fun with these cards. I challenged myself even further by using the same image (not just set) and the same layout.

Here’s a closer look at the first card, the masculine birthday:

When I create masculine cards, I tend to use blues and greens. I also like to have texture. I don’t normally distress cards, but this one seemed to call for it.

I love the white image on the blue jean background, it really pops like that!

I’m also putting this card in for the Paper Smooches Sparks weekly challenge. This week is Anything Goes.

Here is the feminine version:

I don’t normally make girly girly cards, but when I do… 😉 Honestly, I think feminine cards are harder for me than masculine! I’m not much of a girly-girl myself – and pink is my least favorite color….but it does make a great girly card! I also used a lacey / filigree border die.

Miss You So Much

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge: #35 – sketch.

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #35 - Sketch

And here is my take:

by Karen @ carefree creations - Giraffe Longing

I haven’t played with my Paper Smooches stamps in a while, so I broke them out for this sketch.

I chose the giraffe image because it suits the sketch. Then I had to find a sentiment that would fit in the speech bubble. I chose a miss you sentiment because I can pop this card in my hubby’s suitcase for his next trip.

After laying out the pieces, I felt the card was too plain. I decided to doodle a frame. That is always so scary to me, but I thought it went with the fun & cute feel of the images.

Let’s Hang Out

by Karen @ carefree creations - Let's Hang Out

I played along with the latest PaperSmooches Sparks Challenge which was a sketch.

I rotated the sketch so I could hang the squirrel (love that image!).

Today was my first real day back at the craft table (June was full of projects and company). I actually made 3 cards today! I’ll post another one shortly and save the other for tomorrow. I wish I knew how folks managed crafting every day (and no, my house is *nowhere* near spotless…I have no idea where my time goes!!).

For the Science Teacher

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> #26 – sketch.

CAS Colours & Sketches - Challenge 26

I rotated the sketch:

by Karen @ carefree creations - Science Teacher

This was so much fun to make! This is a great sketch – very versatile! And I got to color!!

My kid’s science class this year was focused on chemistry, hence the stamp selection. Her teacher likes purple, so that is why I chose the colors for the clothes.

To make the scientist look like he was really holding the flask, I fussy-cut around the fingers and tucked the flask image just behind the fingers.
