CC&S #344 – Every Day is a Gift

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

I know it may not seem like it based on my posts here, but I love flowers. I have a TON of flower stamp sets. I think because I know I am biased and see a flower in every challenge, I try to not stamp flowers…but then I hardly ever stamp them. I just had to for this one.

I am loving this autumnal color scheme too.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

Thanks for stopping by!

CC&S #343 – Anchors Away

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Anchors Away | by karen h @ carefree creations

Every time I see these colors, I think nautical!

Very simple, one-layer card. We’ll just ignore that, despite trying to use a t-rule, the sentiment is crooked.

I am in love with these colors. Pretty sure I could easily have made this a Christmas card by just changing the sentiment!

Patterns of Thanks | by karen h @ carefree creations

I wasn’t sure about this card at first, but after awhile, I decided I like it. Your eye goes down the lines to the sentiment. Once you hit the sentiment, the lines sort of block up and your eye stays on the sentiment.

CC&S #335 – Butterflies

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Birthday Butterflies | by karen h @ carefree creations

The layers on the 3 larger butterflies are from the layers stamp set, but with selective inking (the layers are for “straight on” butterflies, whereas these smaller images are not “straight on”).

I broke the odds rule (there are 4 flowers) but I really couldn’t figure out where to put a fifth one and I wanted them off the top and bottom, so four it is.

CASology – Grill

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – GRILL!

Here is my take:

Grilled Birthday | by karen h @ carefree creations

Nothing says summer like grilling (at least in the northern hemisphere)!

To add a little picnic vibe, I added some gingham paper. And to add a bit of interest I cut that paper in something other than straight.

I hope you join us at CASology – and, for more inspiration, check out the other design team members:

CC&S #330 – Keep Afloat

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Keep Afloat | by karen h @ carefree creations

I knew when I put these colors together I wanted to do some sort of nautical card. I decided to use two of the colors to create a scene (sun and water) and the third color to stamp everything else like a silhouette.

To make the background, I first squished the sea color onto the watercolor paper, then I dried it – to keep the blending to a minimum. When I did the sun squishing I did use a towel to pull up the green that was created where the colors met.

CC&S #328 – Christmas Cheer

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. And this month – I’m hosting! Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Christmas Cheer | by karen h @ carefree creations

As usual, I pick my challenges a month or so before I make the cards – and so I never remember what I had in mind 🙂 Not sure what made me pick poinsettias for this color combo, but I love it!

The line details on the flowers & leaves, as well as the flower centers, are stamped with Sahara Sand; the sentiment is Wet Cement.

And here is my take:

Reach for the Sky | by karen h @ carefree creations

I really wasn’t sure what to do with this sketch – but mostly because I don’t have any frame/layer die that is shaped like that. Once I got my brain passed that, the rest was easy!

I’m really happy with how this turned out!

CC&S #326 – Birthday Bouquet

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Birthday Bouquet | by karen h @ carefree creations

A perfect color combo for flowers — and I love stamping flowers. The qualifier there is because I can’t keep any plant thing alive, sadly. At least stamping flowers lets me bring a little floral brightness to my surroundings!
