Beloved Pet

Unfortunately I needed another pet sympathy card. This time I pulled out the With Sympathy set from Papertrey Ink.

Once I figured out my layout, I decided to stamp on pattern paper (which is the current Make-it-Monday challenge mim73).

The flower images are from the With Sympathy set, but I die cut using the smallest die in the Lovely Layers set.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Wishes

I created this card for the Clean & Simple Fall-to-Layout (ftl196).

I really love the strawberry set and wanted to use it again. Thankfully I think it worked great with this layout. I did add a couple borders to help spiffy it up.

To create the banner, I stamped my sentiment, then used my trimmer to trim most of the top away; I used scissors to trim around the flourishes of the sentiment that went above the top.

I purposefully stamped the strawberries so that I could pop one of them up over the sentiment strip.

As a finishing touch, I used the corner chomper to round the bottom two corners (I used the 1/2″ punch). I don’t use that tool very often, but I do love it because I can cut the front and back at the same time.

Pocketful of Wishes

Today I played along with the Colour Q challenge (CQC 143) – I love the bright happy colors.

I recently purchased this pocket set and wanted to use it. The layout for this just came to me. I like how the pocket and half & half die point to the sentiment.

Pink Hydrangea

As always, I need birthday cards. For today’s card I used the CAS-ual Friday challenge – Pretty in Pink (cfc58).

To color the hydrangea, I inked the stamp with Sweet Blush and Chartreuse. Then I went back with Copic markers and darkened up some of the blossoms. I admit when I did the first blossom I thought I had ruined it – but I figured I should finish it up, and once it was done, I liked the result!

I’m not a big pink fan, so I just did the flower in pink – but I felt the yellow card base set off the flower nicely.

FYI – Elegant Anniversary

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI32.

Such a serene photo. I love the layers of white trees contrasted with the grey of the bridge. I used the shape of the bridge as an element in my card design.

I had so many ideas for this photo! I finally decided I would make an anniversary card – and that helped me narrow down the composition and pick my elements.

The sentiment was stamped on a Photo Finisher die cut (one that reminded me of the bridge).

The photo is darker on the bottom with the water, so I layered pattern paper on the bottom of my card.

One thing I loved was how the dark tree trunks peeked through the white trees. I chose to use a doily die cut because the holes would allow darker bits to peek out.

Finally a few pearls to help bring the focus to the sentiment.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Hats off to the Grad

We had a nephew graduate high school this year. I used the school colors (green, white, and a bit of red) along with their mascot (an apple) to create this card.

The very first Papertrey Ink Make-it-Monday video (mim1) was about creating sentiment collages and it has been on my to-try list ever since. I even pinned a card by Betsy Veldman where she did a collage too. Now, I’m finally trying it myself!

It was fun picking the sentiments – and I could have made many more cards with all the options I came up with. The hardest bit was knowing when to stop with the sentiments – and what color to do them in. In the end, I kept it simple with the amount of sentiments, and kept the red to a minimum because it always gets focus.

15 Years

I made this card for my hubby – today is our 15th anniversary!

When the Masculine Motifs set first came out, I really wanted it – but just for these two images, so I opted not to get it. Just a couple months ago though, someone decided they were done with their own set and put it up for sale – I decided that was a sign 🙂 I ended up making a few birthday cards for other guys in my family – so I feel it was worth getting the set!

Thank You cards for Teachers

These two cards are for the gym & music teachers (I gave the art teacher a generic thank you that I made last month – my brain just couldn’t get artsy, which is sorta ironic, eh?).

Hippity Hoppity

I know it seems a little late for an Easter card, but I couldn’t post this when I made it as I sent it to my secret sister. Instead of holding on to it for next year, I figure a little whimsy is a good thing 🙂

I had just received the Scrambled Eggs set from Papertrey and had to use it to make a card. I love this set because I’ll be able to add ears to many things, lol.
