Have a Hoot

I made this card for the CAS challenge (cas66) which was to use Kellyโ€™s card as a sketch.

After perusing my stamp sets, I settled on the owl image and everything else just fell in place. I stamped the owl on PTI Rustic paper before I thought about how I was going to color it. I opted to use my Copics. Unfortunately I don’t have any brown markers yet, so I used the Artichoke trio.

The moon is Lemon Tart paper that has white sponged on one side and orange (whatever color was on my “orange” sponge) on the other side. I also used the Wood Impressions plate along the top, but you can’t see it in the picture. I had a hard time coming up with a sandwich since I don’t have PTI’s mats.

Good Luck

This card was created for a CAS challenge which was posted a few weeks ago on the SCS forum (cas61). I am a bit behind on participating in my favorite challenges.

I just started collecting Copic markers. This isn’t my first use with them – but it is definitely the first use I plan on posting ๐Ÿ˜‰ It did take a bit of working to make it look the way I wanted.

The clover is a few heart punchies, a rhinestone, and a hand cut stem – easy accent.

Paper: White (PTI); Wasabi, Notebook 2 DSP (SU);

Summer Scene

I made this card for the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge (sssc63). I’ve always had a hard time with circles. For this one I decided to make create a scene.

When I decided on a beach theme, I wanted a shovel & pail (because my favorite beach memories are making sand castles with my family). Since the PTI set doesn’t have one, I pulled out this set from TAC that I’ve had forever. I did use the PTI set for the sentiment though.

Crazy 4 Challenges is hosting a “Use Kraft” challenge (c4c31), so I did – as my sand and card base.

I was going to make this card for the Embellishment Magazine’s pub call, but I could NOT figure out how to put a button on without it seeming like an afterthought. So I gave up on that idea and will just have to figure something else out (good thing I like working with bright colors!).

Night on the Town

This card is for two challenges. The first, a theme challenge from Jen at SCS (cas59). The challenge was to create a card inspired by New York. When I think New York I think city. I have this stamp that I got for free years ago and have never inked it up. I thought this would be the perfect challenge to use it.

I thought about the card for a day or two. Then the Crazy 4 Challenges blog posted a sketch today that I thought would be perfect for my city card (c4c30).

The sentiment is just my hand writing (if it isn’t obvious seeing as it isn’t neat nor straight, lol).

Stamps: Cityscape (Unknown);
Ink: Basic Black, Real Red (StampinUp markers);
Paper: Black, White (PTI);
Other: Black ribbon (PTI), Poppy button (PTI), Embossing Folder (CB), dimensionals;

Turtle Day

I made this cute little cas card for a couple challenges. The first challenge was from CAS on SCS (cas58) which was a color challenge (and of course keep it CAS). The theme I got from the ResQ blog (resq36) which was to make a boy’s birthday card.

Tree of Life

This card was started for a challenge, but I already know it will be a perfect card to send to my brother come July.

The card started with the inking challenge at 365 Cards (day 6). I bought the tree stamp when it came out but hadn’t inked it up yet. Since I was using the tree, I thought about making a card for my bro, so I wanted a masculine color scheme. I found the perfect scheme at ColorQ (cqc22). The images are huge (which is good), so I wasn’t sure how to finish up the card. That was when Jen del Muro’s Saturday sketch came to help (sfytt31).

I am really really happy with this card. The picture just doesn’t do it (maybe I’ll try again in the daytime) – the colors and the texture work so well together.

Olympic Inspiration

I was surfing the ‘net looking for inspiration so I could complete a past CAS challenge (a requirement for their DT challenge – wish me luck!). The Pairs Figure Skating came on and I noticed the side boards had these cool curving waves in great colors. There was a past CAS challenge to use curves (CAS45), so I went with it!

I hand drew my curves and played around with how to intertwine them. Once I got them settled I looked for something as a focal point. I decided on the circle sentiment from the CTMH set called Free Spirit. The stars just made sense after that ๐Ÿ™‚

Wanna play?

I made this card for this week’s Clean And Simple challenge on the SCS forum (CAS52). We were supposed to be inspired by a card, but I ended up using it as a sketch challenge.

I love how this card turned out, though I’m not sure when I’ll use it. I want to do something on the inside, but I haven’t had much time to stamp. Hopefully in March I’ll get into a routine again and stamp more often ๐Ÿ™‚

Wish for Spring

I know, living in Hawaii I really don’t need to wish for spring, but many people are deep in snow right now and I am thinking of them ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite season (at home in Virginia) is spring.

This card was created for two challenges. The colors are for Stacy’s Curtain Call challenge (Act11). The layout is from 2 Sketches 4 You (#43).

Since the color challenge is sponsored by an SU demo I try to keep to SUO supplies. The tag die cut is not SU, but could easily be replaced with an equivalent. All the stamps are even current (woohoo for me, lol).

On a side note, I just found a grammar website (because I couldn’t remember if you capitalize seasons). Language is *not* a skill I possess with any depth! I love dictionary.com for both spelling and definitions, but I hadn’t found a good grammar site. Anyway, the site is: GrammarBook.com.

Conversations in Chocolate

I love the new Stampin’Up! Chocolate Bunny stamp! My mommy gave it to me for Christmas (she’s the bestest). The funny thing is I’m not really into chocolate bunnies (unless they are Reese’s and filled with peanut butter ๐Ÿ˜€ ), but I always think of them when I think Easter – and the stamp is adorable.

kth_chocolatebunnies

Mom wanted to see what i would do with it and this was the first thing that came to mind. It isn’t original – I remember seeing this “conversation” either on a t-shirt or a card at the store years ago.

I really wish someone could invent a way to do mirror images that doesn’t degrade the mirrored image. Although it might be user error as I know I have seen other folks do the mirror thing with near perfect results. If you have any hints, I’d love to hear them! (I did huff on it before stamping.)
