I’m a little behind on my CAS challenge cards, so I went back a couple weeks to an inspiration challenge (cas74). I’m not sure the card is all that simple (at least compared to my normal CAS cards), but it feels clean to me. I snuck in a couple DTGD challenges as well.
The CAS challenge was to find inspiration from cakes found on Carrie’s Cakes’ website. I chose a beautiful autumn leaves & berries cake. I haven’t used this old SU set in forever. The cake has such a beautiful sheen to it – I used SU’s glitter paper as the focal layer base.
Once I picked the inspiration, I noticed that I could easily incorporate a couple DTGD challenges as well – ‘texture’ and a sketch. My texture comes in three ways: the red card base is textured cardstock, the ribbon is satin (I think shiny is a texture even if it is visual and not tactile), and the cork frame.
Thanks for takin’ a peek.
Colors: Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke, Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie;

Karen, I can so see that cake in your card! So to speak–that sounds a little funny, doesn’t it? I love the cut out–nice design element! I agree–the ribbon’s shiny *is* texture. In the close up of your picture, it definitely stands out!
Beautiful and unique card – great take on the inspiration photo!
This is a fantastic fall-ish card! Love the cut out piece and how you used the cork.
