Birthday Sparks

Last week a new Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge was posted.

I loved the colors and the idea of highlighting a word or two with different colors.

When I read the inspiration photo, I thought the kitty image really had the air of a millionaire, so I had to use her. I colored her in with Copics. Then added a touch of bling to bring out the millionaire feel 😉

Thanks for taking a peek!

I Can Make a Flower Out of That!

This week’s Make-it-Monday (mim61) is to use non-flower dies to create flowers! It was so fun to flip through my dies looking at them in a whole new light! I really wanted to re-create a pansy with a butterfly (like I’ve seen folks do with another company’s punch)…but the ones I have just weren’t shaped right — maybe if PTI came out with a Butterfly Kisses die *hint hint* 🙂

So what I did use was hearts. I made sure to add 5 hearts so it wouldn’t look too much like a four-leaf clover. I did use Dawn’s idea for a button and twine center (my button is a die-cut though).

To do the sentiment I just selectively inked the words that would fit on my pennant.

The great layout is from Clean & Simple Stamping – Fall-to-Layout #185.

CAS Scallops

Monday’s Clean & Simple challenge at SplitCoast is all about scallops – and I’m a guest designer!

I love this Wonky Scallop die from My Favorite Things. I pretty much designed around it for this card. I liked having it hang off the card, so I trimmed the base to 5″ and the die cut to 5.5″ so the whole thing would fit in an envelope.

Happy Easter

My attempt at chocolate bunnies in my girls’ baskets this year was not a hit. By the time I got around to ordering chocolate (I prefer fair-trade chocolate), all that was left was dark chocolate…which apparently my girls don’t like. Next year I must remember to order early!

I created this card for the ColourQ Challenge (cqc131). These colors will soon be retired from the StampinUp arsenal. I’ve come to really love Pear and Bride! I’ve already made sure to ordered extra paper and ribbon 🙂

FYI – Chase the Gloomies Away

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI27. This challenge is sponsored by The Cutting Cafe.

This photo is so dramatic! I love the dark clouds in the background with the lighthouse still in the sun. I decided to go with the rain theme.

I used lots of shades of grey – and touches of color. I stamped the umbrella and galoshes on white paper so their white would pop.

While I did use two grey papers, this card is done with only one grey ink! The clouds and umbrella handle are generation impressions (the dark cloud is after stamping off once, the small cloud twice and the umbrella handle 3 times).

Birthday Carnival

Even though I am neglecting so many responsibilities, I am loving all the stamping time I’ve had this week.

Today I created a card for the latest Fall-To-Layout (ftl184).

While I did manage to keep the card itself clean and simple – my colors are a bit overwhelming….but it is a birthday card 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

Calming Seas

I created this card based on the latest Retro Sketch (rs5).

My preferred style is clean and simple, so it may be sorta hard to see the sketch in my final card, but it is definitely where I stared.

The seashells are actually from my scrap bucket. Something I had tried – eons ago – but didn’t use. I brushed Twinkling H2Os on to paper. Then I stamped the image and cut it out.

You’re Mooovelous

The current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge is so adorable!

I chose to work with the colors and the idea of something being different colors.

I made my own sentiment by pairing a partial sentiment from Sentiment Sampler and then using the Alphadot alphabet to create the rest of it.

I have a few extra yellow cows because I could not find the right yellow. This one was the best of the bunch.

Shades of Pink

This weekend’s Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge (wmsc91) is a one-layer card. Ooooh that is so hard for me. The only reason I attempted it was because their definition was a lot more lax than others, so I felt I could give it a go.

I think that freed me up and I actually managed a one-layer card!! Though, with all the pearls, I’ll still need to be careful mailing this card.

I trimmed the base to 4″ because I think the slightly narrower card is nice for vertical one-layer cards (at least with the idea I had in my head).

I used the heart border from Nordic Winter set and stamped it in a gradient with a variety of pink inks (some generational stamping too).

I used Chocolate ink for the sentiment. There was a time that I only used black for sentiments and I don’t remember how I broke that, but now I’ll use other colors – but I do admit, I still reach for black first. I really have to think out my card before I put ink to stamp!

I have to shout just how EASY it was to apply the Zva pearl flourish! A couple months ago I had tried a small flourish from another company and it was torture. This took seconds and it laid down perfect. I can see more of these in my future!

Thanks for stopping by!

love you

True Friend

Oh how I love the In Bloom stamp set! This flower is stamped onto Blush cardstock and then the shadows added with Copic markers. I love coloring!

The striped pattern paper is from PTI’s new pattern packs. I love this new packaging and can’t wait for more colors. You get lots of different patterns all in the same color (and you can get each pattern separately too). I have really come to love the Aqua color – it is such a soothing color.

The card base is narrower than a typical A2 card. However, I’m pretty sure even with the narrower card base, this would not fit into a regular envelope. But I knew this card was going into a puffy mailer, so I didn’t worry too much. (It is already long gone otherwise I would measure it for sure.)

Thanks for stopping by!
