CASology – Appreciate

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – APPRECIATE!

Here is my take:

Appreciation Foliage | by karen h @ carefree creations

A very simple card. I did add a little bow with some floss.

When I was done with this card, another idea spawned – but I don’t have the supplies, so I dearly hope someone makes an office chart type card with the financial definition of appreciate šŸ™‚

CC&S #346 – Missing You

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Forest Sunset | by karen h @ carefree creations

Started out thinking I’d do a galaxy, but I suck at that technique. I was able to pull off a sunset.

To start, I made faint pencil dots on my watercolor paper to help me know the boundaries of the opening of the die. Then I painted on the colors, let it dry, and added another layer of color. Once that was all dry, I watered down some white acrylic paint and did some splatters.

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

CC&S #345 – Wish You Were Here

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

It’s a double challenge – so you have to use both the color scheme AND the sketch. Here is my take:

Wish You Were Here | by karen h @ carefree creations

We had our first snow the day I was making this card, so of course I went in a frosty direction with this color combo.

The chunky glitter snowflake is a bit more than I normally do, but I like it.

CASology – Fog part 2

There is still time to play along with the CASology challenge – FOG; it is an extended deadline!

I thought I’d post some more inspiration for you:

Fog My Spectacles | by karen h @ carefree creations

While I had out my white ink from last week’s card, I wanted to also do these glasses! I wasn’t sure exactly how I would use the glasses (since the ink is white, I couldn’t just plop these glasses on a white card base), but after a few attempts, I came up with this cluster of hearts – and I love this card!

I adhered a layer of glasses to some window sheet and cut it out (just inside the frame border). Once I got the ink on the window sheet, I added a couple layers behind and one on top – so lots of dimension to these specs!

CC&S #344 – Every Day is a Gift

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

I know it may not seem like it based on my posts here, but I love flowers. I have a TON of flower stamp sets. I think because I know I am biased and see a flower in every challenge, I try to not stamp flowers…but then I hardly ever stamp them. I just had to for this one.

I am loving this autumnal color scheme too.

CASology – Fog

It is time for a new CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – FOG!

Here is my take:

Rocky Mountain Hello | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I first saw the clue, my mind immediately went to the mountains. I love seeing the mountains around my town – I get a calm feeling looking at them. I really wanted to capture their layers – and the fog works into that picture perfectly!

I stamped the lightest mountain image, let it dry, then applied white pigment ink. Once that was dry I did it again and again. I am a little disappointed in the white on the darkest purple – I just could not get it to stay white.

I also had another idea for “fog” and that card will go live next week.

CC&S #343 – Anchors Away

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Anchors Away | by karen h @ carefree creations

Every time I see these colors, I think nautical!

Very simple, one-layer card. We’ll just ignore that, despite trying to use a t-rule, the sentiment is crooked.

CC&S #342 – Lovely Day

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Lovely Day | by karen h @ carefree creations

I really wanted to do a window/peekaboo card, but I didn’t have anything that fit the space well enough. Instead I tried to keep my images to the sizes in the sketch – the top and bottom wider than the middle.

Using the misti really made this easy to stamp! I positioned the first layer, stamped it, rotated the card base, and stamped the second laurel (repeat for each layer).

I am in love with these colors. Pretty sure I could easily have made this a Christmas card by just changing the sentiment!
