Um, yeah

kth_notecard_blacklily

I really love the color combo in Dawn’s latest challenge (#9). And I immediately knew I wanted to emboss cream paper. I’m not sure what happened after that, but this certainly isn’t what I had in my head, lol. There is no sentiment because I’m not even sure what I could possibly say with a black lily on it! Oh well. It is pretty 🙂

Singing in the Rain reprise

kth_badday_umbrellaflip

I really loved my previous inside-out umbrella card and thought I really should do one utilizing only PTI products so I could enter it into their monthly challenge. I like how this one turned out!

Since I chose to use only PTI products, the dark grey cardstock makes it difficult, in the picture, to see the lines of the umbrella, but IRL they are very visible.

When it Rains
All supplies from PTI.
Stamps: Scattered Showers, Fancy Flourishes;
Ink: Smokey Shadow, Basic Black (ok, well really I have Noir and Charcoal by Palette, but they are the same according to Nicole 😉
Paper: Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow;

Sketchy Thoughts

kth_thinking_shoresketch

This card was created for a sketch on CPS – CPS120. I wasn’t sure what set to use, but this OCL set was visible in my storage box and I thought it would work. I like how this turned out.

Thinking of You
Stamps: Coastal Wishes (OCL);
Ink: Noir (Palette); watercoloring with Turquoise, Tangerine, Celery, Brillant (SU);
Paper: Brilliant, White, Turquoise Prints, Brilliant Prints, Tangerine (SU);
Other: Tangerine ribbon (SU), scallop border (SU);

White a Challenge

Ugh, that is a horrible pun, I know – but my kids recently got joke books and have been non-stop since school ended!

kth_smile_bouquet

This card was done for the color challenge on SCS (CC222). The challenge was to use white – a one layer card and only white cardstock…any color ink was fine. I wasn’t sure if lots of ink colors was ok or just one…but I went with a few 🙂

I should have made a narrow card for this one, but done is done!

Smile
Stamps: Wonderful Words, Pocket Silhouettes (SU);
Ink: Chocolate, Summer Sun, Old Olive (SU);
Paper: white (PTI);
Other: olive button (SU), twine (PTI);

Naturally Simple

kth_note_naturallysimple

The CAS challenge on SCS (CAS18) was a color challenge – Kraft, Coral/Pink, and one other color. Kraft always makes me think natural fibers, so I pulled out the twill. Then I checked the stamp sets I haven’t used and chose the SAB set Polka Dot Punches. I made a little loop off the card base edge with the twill and used a staple, but that is for decoration, I didn’t want my staple’s butt showing on the inside, so I only stapled the twill and then used sticky tape to adhere it to the base. The little accent on the flower is an acrylic piece I’ve had for a while. I don’t keep packaging, so I have no idea whose it is, but it may be Doodlebug.

I know this is really simple, but I like the little grouping of the punches and the sentiment and I don’t really notice the ‘white’ space around the rest of the card.

Just a Note
All supplies Stampin’Up! unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Polka Dot Punches, Lots of Thoughts;
Ink: Orchid, Coral, Chocolate;
Paper: Kraft, Vanilla;
Other: twill, brad, staple, acrylic flower;

From Trash to Treasure

I’ve been saving the stamp set wraps from PTI packaging for a long time. But there was a recent challenge at the Res-Q blog (RESQ04TT) that made me get them out and actually do something with them!

Wishing You the Best

Do you see what I see?

kth_thinking_ornamentals

Believe it or not, this card was inspired by Lands’ End’s Kaleidoscope Print Seaglass Beach Towel. I don’t have PTI’s Guidelines 2 set (the one with circles). If I did, the resulting card might have looked a little more like the original. I also realized that the color in the towel is one I would *love* to have a matching ink for, but don’t! SU’s Taken with Teal paper matches, but for some reason my ink is waaay off of that. Hmmm….maybe it is time for a new reinker?

Anywho, this is a fairly straight forward card. Result is simple, but it was a lot of stamping! My mom says this card is very me – the images and colors. I do like the card, so maybe she is right 😉

Thinking of You
Stamps: Guidelines, Borders & Corners: Circles, Borders & Corners: Ovals, Simple Little Things (PTI);
Ink: Pure Poppy, Ocean Tides (PTI), Charcoal (Palette);
Paper: White (PTI);
Other: Ocean satin ribbon (PTI);

Mmm Lifesavers

Have you noticed that most of my cards end up reminding me of food? Hee hee, maybe I don’t always post about it, but it’s true. I *love* food. So it really is no surprise that today’s color challenge (CC221) made me think Lifesavers.

kth_thanks_lifesaver

I even decided I should make circles like lifesavers, but of course, I only have a couple circle punches with me (and I didn’t want to deal with my coluzzle to make frames). And the two punches I have didn’t leave enough cardstock left to resemble a lifesaver. But as I was playing with the frame and left-over circles, I decided I liked how they looked layered. Then I decided to add the DSP but didn’t want it showing through the frames. A little work and I was able to punch out the half-circles from the paper so it didn’t show.

There is no stamping on this card as I didn’t have a stamp with the sentiment I wanted. So I bravely added my own handwriting (after practicing a few times). Oooh, I guess I did stamp – the line is from a PTI set. I had the line of dots out, but went with the line instead….mistake! I think the dots would have looked much better – but done is done!

You’re a Lifesaver!
Stamps: line – Paper Tray (PTI);
Ink: Old Olive marker, Tangerine Tango ink (SU);
Paper: Hawaiian Papaya DSP (SU), Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Tangering Tango CS (SU);
Other: circle punches;

Birthday Splurge

kth_bday_dessertsplurge

Yesterday my baby turned 7! I really don’t know where the time goes. As usual, I saved all the work for the day before and day of. I finished her cards minutes before it was time to open gifts. This image is one of her favorites – any time she wants to make a card for something, this is the image she uses. So when I asked her what she wanted on her card, she didn’t even hesitate!

Happy Birthday
Stamps: Hang In There, Big Bold Greetings (SU);
Ink: Noir (Palette), Browns, Regal Rose, Blush< Real Red (SU); Paper: Close to Cocoa, Choc Chip, Regal Patterns, White (SU); Other: chocolate ribbon (SU);

Lucky Stars

kth_thanks_luckystars

Today is the sketch challenge on SCS. I wasn’t really sure about that sketch, but when I decided I didn’t have to follow it exactly, I decided I could do it!

I didn’t take the one layer all the way to the top and I added three elements to the side instead of two. But otherwise, I think I kept to the sketch well.

kth_thanks_luckystars_inside

I added a couple strips of pattern paper to the inside and the small star from the Let Freedom Ring (PTI) stamp set.

Thank My Lucky Stars
