April Showers

I love the rain. Probably because I like the green (grass & trees) that comes from a good rain. When I think spring, I think rain. So when I saw the latest challenge on the Passion for Papertrey blog, my mind immediately went to the Scattered Showers set.

I found a couple challenges to help me finish the card: a sketch from Karen Giron (sssc61), and a color scheme from the Color Chef (chef44). I’m so lucky my PTI order arrived today – I got my PTI Hawaiian Shores supplies!

Drink the Rainbow

ColorQ has a great challenge this week (cqc24). I love Razzleberry – it is my favorite current InColor. I first thought about flowers when I saw the color scheme, but I wanted to do something different. I decided to use the Cheers To You set. A good excuse for coloring too!

The card layout came from a cool sketch over at Just-Add-Ink (jai9).

Spring Tulips

This card was created for Jean’s challenge on the Res-Q blog (resq37). The challenge was not only to use tulips, but she provided a color scheme as well. The layout for the card came from the Stamping 411 blog (ssc143).

I really love multi-colored tulips. When I saw the color combo, I knew I would ink up this image this way.

I had my card all ready, but thankfully not glued down yet, when I realized I hadn’t put any blue in it! Ack! After a couple failed ideas, I simply changed out the border.

I do believe this Perfect Details impression plate is one of my favorite! I guess I should try the other side one of these days 😉 When I embossed the card front, I ended up getting the design throughout the whole card. So without a sentiment on the front and an uneven writing surface inside, I knew I needed to decorate the inside of this card.

Bug Me

I made this card for the Dirty Dozen challenges on SCS (March 2010). The theme this month is All Creatures Great and Small so I wanted my card to use animals. I thought the Bugs & Kisses set would work well with the sketch.

I really think I’m going to buy me a little Janome sewing machine. I did this sewing by hand it and it took forever! I do love the texture sewing provides though, and sometimes it is worth the effort.

I had a hard time pulling this card together and while I don’t love it, I do think it is cute. I think I got a little too ambitious with all the colors. I wanted color for the sentiment, but everything was too overwhelming. I settled for a white tag with a little blue oval peeking out behind it.

Purple Poppy Seed

I created this card for Lisa’s Poppy Seed Challenge (#2) which called for light moss, buttons, and polka dots. I’ve been pondering the challenge for a couple days and did a card the other day that almost met the challenge (I forgot about the buttons until it was too late!). When I sat down today this card just came right to me. It took all of 15 minutes – and most of that was choosing the buttons. 🙂

Gifts of Spring

Isn’t this pretty? I’m so happy with this card! I made this card using the sketch over at Sweet Stop (sss47).

I don’t have much in the way of Berry pattern paper, so I knew I would do stamping to create that portion of the card. Today over on the Maxie Fab World Blog, Cath discussed some recent trends. One trend is using vellum. I hardly ever think about that stuff, but since it was fresh in my mind I thought it would be the perfect way to tone down the Berry paper and get my texture.

Give Your Heart Wings

Last week the Passion for Papertrey blog issued a challenge to spring clean – use something you had to have, but haven’t used yet. I chose to use these Heidi Swap chipboard pieces – they are pre-embossed with designs so all you have to do is ink them up (they are even sticky-backed).

I found a couple other challenges to help me out with the design. The colors are from a Color Cue challenge (#2). The layout is a sketch challenge from Card Positioning System (cps158).

A Little Blue

When I saw this alien set from Stampin Up I had to have it. Of course, until now I hadn’t used it. Yesterday I decided I would use some rubber that I purchased but hadn’t inked yet. This is a set my mom would never own, so I chose to work with this set – and then send her the card to share with her customers.

I found a couple challenges to help me out. I chose a sketch from Card Patterns (sketch 55) and a color scheme from Color Dare (cd59).

One thing to note, the alien’s helmet was cut out from a window sheet. I didn’t want the alien’s head to be part of the overlay, so I ended up using a thin sharpie to trace the helmet while the sheet was over the image (does that make sense??). I like the effect!

I’m not sure why but the first thing that popped into my mind was a “support” type card with the sentiment “Not feeling like yourself?”. Originally I was thinking because of PMS, but then I realized that the dude was blue and thus it could be for a broken heart too. So for the inside I opted for the cure-all CHOCOLATE 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!

Turtle Day

I made this cute little cas card for a couple challenges. The first challenge was from CAS on SCS (cas58) which was a color challenge (and of course keep it CAS). The theme I got from the ResQ blog (resq36) which was to make a boy’s birthday card.

Suppah Stah

This card was created for the Fall to Layout at the CAS blog (ftl82). I loved the sketch and as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do. Well, I knew I wanted a flourish with stars, but it took a couple days to really figure out how to do it. Sad but true.

I chose upbeat colors because I wanted the card to say super star and I didn’t think that would go with pastels. I do like orange and blue together – the combo could be for a guy or a gal…of course I added too many embellishments for it to be masculine (at least what I consider masculine).

Did y’all notice that the star has the same dot pattern that the new Dot Spot set uses? Maybe you did…I know I’m slow to make connections. Makes me wonder how long ago they designed Dot Spot – Star Prints is almost a year old! I gotta figure out how to work the two sets into one card!

For anyone who cares, I’m wondering how you feel about the size of the images on my blog? If you click them you get a slightly larger version, but I know many folks don’t like to click. Would you rather see bigger images directly in the post?
