Monogrammed Anniversary

kth_anniversary_monogramThis week’s Clean & Simple challenge on SCS (CAS32) is to create a wedding card. I don’t normally need wedding cards, but my brother’s anniversary is coming in October, so I decided to make a card for them.

I bought the SU set Together Forever as soon as it came out a year ago but it doesn’t get a lot of ink time. I just bought Lovely Letters alpha – that has been on my wish list forever! I thought the alphabet would go nicely with the stamp set. My opinion of the finished product is still undecided.

Goodbye Summer

kth_justbecause_summerflowers

A couple weeks ago I hosted a challenge over on the Papertrey Ink forum (CMWC55). Of course I was running late with the ideas, so I didn’t get my card made. I started one that day, but I only managed to finish it tonight.

The challenge was to honor the last days of summer by being inspired by summer – either in theme or color. And you know me – I love bright colors! When Nicole first announced the Hibiscus color I whined (the PTI color line is heavy on the red/pink end of the spectrum). But after using Hibiscus…I am starting to love this color! The only problem is that we need more pattern paper using Hibiscus (and New Leaf for that matter).

Now if I could just get summer to scoot out of Hawaii 🙂

Just Because
All supplies PTI unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Floral Frenzy, Mixed Messages;
Ink: Hibiscus Burst, Spring Rain, New Leaf, Fresh Snow;
Paper: Hibiscus Burst, Spring Rain, New Leaf, White;

Enchanted Beams

Hmmm…so much for mid-August, eh? Of course I am not done with all my web work, but I’ve decided I need to USE the stamps I keep buying! So hopefully I am back and will be posting at least a few times a week now. Now, on to card!

kth_newhome_enchantedbeamsI made this card to send to my step-mother who recently moved. I love this PTI set, but have only used it once or twice, so I knew I wanted to make a “new home” card with this set. Her favorite color is blue, and PTI just came out with a wonderful new blue – Enchanted Evening.

I forget now where I saw the ribbon idea (although I haven’t been posting, I have been reading blogs). Basically you take saddle-stitch ribbon and use the stitching to pull ruffles into the ribbon. It is a great effect!

Congratulations

What I’ve Been Up To

One month, really? It has been one month since my last post! I don’t think I have blog followers, but in case I have lurkers – I’m sorry! I do have an excuse though! 🙂

My summer here in Hawaii is short. School ended June 5 and starts up again August 3. Well, after a week of feeling fancy-free, I realized that I needed to get some work done! I had promised my mother to create a website for her. I spent the past 3 weeks working my butt off – and it is done! {Well, not done done – is anything ever done done??} I am quite proud of the site – check it out here.

Anyway, I now have 3 weeks worth of cleaning to do – and only 5 days to do it as my MIL and niece are coming for a visit! *eek* You won’t see me again until mid-August.

Enjoy your summer!

Um, yeah

kth_notecard_blacklily

I really love the color combo in Dawn’s latest challenge (#9). And I immediately knew I wanted to emboss cream paper. I’m not sure what happened after that, but this certainly isn’t what I had in my head, lol. There is no sentiment because I’m not even sure what I could possibly say with a black lily on it! Oh well. It is pretty 🙂

Black Lily
Stamps: Fifth Avenue (SU);
Ink: Brilliance Black (Tsukineko), Black crayon (SU);
Paper: Black, Cream, Old Olive (SU);
Other: Black satin ribbon (PTI);

Singing in the Rain reprise

kth_badday_umbrellaflip

I really loved my previous inside-out umbrella card and thought I really should do one utilizing only PTI products so I could enter it into their monthly challenge. I like how this one turned out!

Since I chose to use only PTI products, the dark grey cardstock makes it difficult, in the picture, to see the lines of the umbrella, but IRL they are very visible.

When it Rains
All supplies from PTI.
Stamps: Scattered Showers, Fancy Flourishes;
Ink: Smokey Shadow, Basic Black (ok, well really I have Noir and Charcoal by Palette, but they are the same according to Nicole 😉
Paper: Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow;

Sketchy Thoughts

kth_thinking_shoresketch

This card was created for a sketch on CPS – CPS120. I wasn’t sure what set to use, but this OCL set was visible in my storage box and I thought it would work. I like how this turned out.

Thinking of You
Stamps: Coastal Wishes (OCL);
Ink: Noir (Palette); watercoloring with Turquoise, Tangerine, Celery, Brillant (SU);
Paper: Brilliant, White, Turquoise Prints, Brilliant Prints, Tangerine (SU);
Other: Tangerine ribbon (SU), scallop border (SU);

White a Challenge

Ugh, that is a horrible pun, I know – but my kids recently got joke books and have been non-stop since school ended!

kth_smile_bouquet

This card was done for the color challenge on SCS (CC222). The challenge was to use white – a one layer card and only white cardstock…any color ink was fine. I wasn’t sure if lots of ink colors was ok or just one…but I went with a few 🙂

I should have made a narrow card for this one, but done is done!

Smile
Stamps: Wonderful Words, Pocket Silhouettes (SU);
Ink: Chocolate, Summer Sun, Old Olive (SU);
Paper: white (PTI);
Other: olive button (SU), twine (PTI);

Naturally Simple

kth_note_naturallysimple

The CAS challenge on SCS (CAS18) was a color challenge – Kraft, Coral/Pink, and one other color. Kraft always makes me think natural fibers, so I pulled out the twill. Then I checked the stamp sets I haven’t used and chose the SAB set Polka Dot Punches. I made a little loop off the card base edge with the twill and used a staple, but that is for decoration, I didn’t want my staple’s butt showing on the inside, so I only stapled the twill and then used sticky tape to adhere it to the base. The little accent on the flower is an acrylic piece I’ve had for a while. I don’t keep packaging, so I have no idea whose it is, but it may be Doodlebug.

I know this is really simple, but I like the little grouping of the punches and the sentiment and I don’t really notice the ‘white’ space around the rest of the card.

Just a Note
All supplies Stampin’Up! unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Polka Dot Punches, Lots of Thoughts;
Ink: Orchid, Coral, Chocolate;
Paper: Kraft, Vanilla;
Other: twill, brad, staple, acrylic flower;

From Trash to Treasure

kth_wishingbest_trashytulip

I’ve been saving the stamp set wraps from PTI packaging for a long time. But there was a recent challenge at the Res-Q blog (RESQ04TT) that made me get them out and actually do something with them!
