You Are Acutie

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You Are Acutie | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I saw this sketch, my first thought was this protractor stamp I have. I’ve only used it once before and had a hard time coming up with another idea, so I actually created another card first (I’ll post that this weekend). Last night I decided to try one more time (because I wasn’t sure if my card followed the sketch well enough)…and I made this card.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Tuesday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

Have Fun!

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – ZOOM! This is a two-week challenge – so you have extra time to play!

Here is my take:

Have Fun | by karen h @ carefree creations

I knew with this cue word I needed to make an interactive card! When I found this little bun on sled, I knew it would be perfect for a slider!

Since I needed a scene to accommodate my slider, I was concerned with all the layers and keeping the card clean & simple too. Making the layers white meant the only color would come from the image – perfect!

HUGS

And here is my take:

HUGS | by karen h @ carefree creations

These bright colors reminded me of flowers. I thought a cute little flower scatter would be fun. When it came to adding a sentiment, I knew big & bold would be the way to go.

A Little Encouragement

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – BEAR!

Here is my take:

Way to Go | by karen h @ carefree creations

My card is a 4Bar size (3 1/2 x 4 7/8) – which complements the image size much better.

I did draw a bow on the bear using a Momento marker.

Season’s Greetings

And here is my take:

Season's Greetings | by karen h @ carefree creations

I recently picked up this stamp set and thought – with its rectangle shape and built in border – it would be perfect for this sketch.

I colored it with Copics. I’ve seen other cards with multi colored dots surrounding an image. I didn’t pull it off, but this was my first attempt. I’m not sure why I don’t feel like I “nailed it”, but I’ll try it again one day.

Too Cute to Spook

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – JUMPY!

Here is my take:

Too Cute to Spook | by karen h @ carefree creations

I know, you may be wondering how the heck this is jumpy. The cute card front is to lull the recipient into a false sense of security 🙂 Upon opening the card, they’ll get a confetti shower!

Inside Too Cute | by karen h @ carefree creations

I used these instructions from Holly to make my confetti flinger. (FYI I took the rubber band off so I could take a photo.)

You’re Amazing

And here is my take:

You're Amazing | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I saw the two blues, I knew I wanted to do a layered stamping. I thought the blues would be good for leaves. Since the flower could only be the one color, I thought I’d add some texture.

I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire’s latest video – Custom Stamp Layering. Instead of of using a bone folder – I just did the kissing technique on the flower.

You are a Pearl

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – PEARL!

Here is my take:

You are a Pearl | by karen h @ carefree creations

So why are pearls always shown in clam shells when they come from oysters? Well that worked for me as I don’t have any oyster stamps!

Reach for the Stars

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Reach for the Stars | by karen h @ carefree creations

With this sketch, I really wanted that rectangle to be the focus of the card. I used black ink and kept everything else really pale.

How the Heifer Are You?

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – FARM!

Here is my take:

How the Heifer Are You? | by karen h @ carefree creations

I wish I could take credit for this pun, but I cannot. But as soon as I heard it I knew I wanted to use it!

To do the sentiment, I pieced together words from other sentiments and used alphabet sets to create “heifer”. I fussy cut the speech bubble and the cow out and popped them up over the gingham.
