Mother’s Day Bouquet

Mother's Day Circle Bouquet | by karen h @ carefree creations

I made this card, but ended up not using it this year. It will either go in my free box (which I didn’t bring to work this year, hmmm) or I’ll save it for next year.

I really like Heather’s card so I CASEd it.

Mother’s Day Flowers

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Mother's Day Flowers | by karen h @ carefree creations

Since I need to make a few mother’s day cards, I thought I should take advantage of such a versatile sketch and fill one of those slots.

I know the position of the leaves is a bit odd on the top flower, but I like the symmetry of having the top & bottom leaves in the corners.

I didn’t want to go black or brown for the sentiment – felt it was too stark. I found a dark purple that went well with the images and I’m really happy with that result. I positioned the sentiment die so it overlapped a couple flowers and the swoosh of the “y” goes to the edge of the card.

Here is my take:

This set is still new enough to me that I wanted to play with it again. I used a cloud stencil to create the sky behind the tiger.

Oceans of Joy

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Oceans of Joy | by karen h @ carefree creations

A seahorse is not an animal I would normally think of for pink. I was looking up ocean animals for another project and saw a pink seahorse and knew I would use that for this challenge!

To stamp the seahorse, I stamped the base layer with a second-generation inking. The second layer is a full-strength inking. The third layer (hard to see as it isn’t much) I used the same grey as the sentiment.

Wavy Rainbow Thanks

Wavy Rainbow Thanks | by karen h @ carefree creations

The other day was Admin Professionals Day. I needed a few thank you cards. I chose to make 4-bar size. I wasn’t able to get decent photos of most of them, but I did get a good photo of my last card.

I spent and hour or so coloring the panel, so I’m glad the photo came out. One disclaimer though – the card I gave did not have the center to the O. I’m still not sure how I knew to keep the center of the A, but not the O…sigh. For my post I edited the image to include the center. I had taken a photo of the colored panel before I cut it, so I was able to merge the two images.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Thank You

So Happy for You

Today is Papertrey’s April Blog Hop.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

The inspiration is a beautiful piece! I was going to use tea cups on my card, but got sidetracked by the top cup. I loved the border of flowers separating the blue & white. That is what I went with:

You Rock!

It is time for another CASology challenge. Check out the latest challenge – Active!

My computer crashed last week. I’m hobbling along on a spare (yes, I am VERY thankful we have a spare). I don’t have my normal applications. To edit my photo I used a really awesome free online photo editor…but I don’t know how to use it, lol. Please forgive the lack of color adjustment. New image….

Here is my take:

You Rock | by karen h @ carefree creations

This card took me forever! OK, not this card….I had a really ambitious interactive card that I wanted to do, but it required me to be an engineer and I am NOT an engineer. Seriously, it sat on my desk for weeks while I tried this and that. I finally gave up a few days ago and stamped this. I do like it, but I feel like a failure anyway, lol!

My hubby has been learning guitar, so I’ll give this to him. While he isn’t very active while playing, I was going with the “rock” part.

Have a Lovely Day

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Have a Lovely Day | by karen h @ carefree creations

When I designed this sketch, I knew I wanted to have the circle be a window/aperature to the card base. My original thought was to use a decorative vellum as the top panel. I actually had everything picked out and was excited, but then I remembered what a pain it is to adhere vellum! I gave up on that and found some pretty pattern paper (which I have a ton of so it is still a win!)
