Happy Valentine’s Day

by Karen @ Carefree Creations: Valentine's For Kids

I created these little notes to leave for my girls today (along with a little box of chocolate).

Just a quick note about the sentiment. Many companies don’t make “we” versions, so I often have to piece together my own thing. For this one, I started with an “i love you” sentiment from Paper Smooches. I inked up just the “love you” bit then using a coordinating marker I wrote “we”. Of course I started too far away (despite practicing!!). So to fix it, I just added a small heart.

Rainy Day Cheer

Firstly, sorry for the bad photo – one of my lights went out and I did not have another white-light bulb in the house 🙁

by Karen @ Carefree Creations: Cheer Up

I created this card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge – Designer Draft.

This sketch was a hard one, but I’m really happy with how this one turned out. One detail that is hard to see in the photo is that I embossed a rectangle around the clouds & umbrella.

I also worked in some polka dots as a nod to last week’s Spark challenge that I did not get a chance to participate in.

Orange Motif

Karen @ Carefree Creations: Orange Motif

Today is day 4 of the Clean & Simple class (don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about day 3…I’m working on it 😉 ). The theme is white space. Since that was my only direction, I looked for a challenge to help me out.

I found two that worked well: a sketch from Less is More and colors and motif from Paper Smooches Sparks (the current Picture Perfect inspiration challenge).

I think this week is the most my heat gun tool has ever been out! For this card, I embossed the motif directly onto the orange card base. Then I cut pieces of grey card stock to frame the motif.

I probably could have gotten away without the top strip, but I liked the strips in the inspiration photo.

Birthday Rose

This is my other “reject” card for the Paper Smooches CHA promo (Flag Tags die). I had so much fun playing with the stamps and dies that I had too many cards.

This is the card that first came to mind when I received the products.

The flower is stamped on 3 different pattern papers and then cut and layered.

Birthday Party

kth_bday_patternparty

I created this card to introduce the Paper Smooches Flag Tags dies, but I ended up making a few cards and this one just didn’t make the cut (not that I don’t like it, I just think the other cards showed off the stamps and dies better). I have another “reject” to show tomorrow too!

I’m always needing birthday cards, and I thought creating a little border of flags would be fun. The flags are die cut from pattern paper.

To help frame the present image, I used a triangle stamp and the same colors as the flags to create a banner along the top.

Paper Smooches is known for their fun and whimsical hand-drawn stamps. They decided that it was time to broaden their product line to include DIES and wood mount stamps!

I have a project to share using NEW PS product that releases on February 1, 2013, at www.papersmoochesstamps.com along with many retail stores around the globe.

You will find a new blog link (or two) to follow every day in January at the PS Blog.

Paper Smooches is giving away $500. Worth of product! Hidden on FIVE of the participating blogs is a prize package worth $100. each. The prize includes a variety of stamp sets, wood mounts and dies. Comment on as many blogs as you can to increase your chances to be one of the five winners.

Now, onto my projects. I’m using Flag Tags stamps and dies!

kth_valentine_loveusewmuch

On this card I used 2 of the 3 dies and just 2 of the stamps. The stamps and dies are actually longer, but I trimmed (and selectively inked) them to make them shorter for this card orientation.

kth_bday_bird&rainbow

For this card, I’m using one of the solid flag stamps (full size).

This card is a white panel with the colored flags stamped on the far left (the panel is 3 3/4″ wide). I added bits of white card stock (the same height as the flag stamp) to the back of the panel, and lined them up to match with the stamped images, and left them to hang out over the berry card base.

Butterfly Celebration

I created this card for 2 challenges. The first is a color challenge from Paper Smooches Sparks (Royalty Colors). The second is a layout challenge from CAS-ual Fridays (Long/Short).

Here is my card:

kth_bday_butterflycelebration_tall

For the CAS-usal Friday challenge, I made my card 4 x 8.

For the stamping, I started by inking up a solid rectangle stamp with light blue – inking very lightly in the middle and more generously along the edges. The butterflies are inked up with pink then kissed with a pattern in magenta. I added details to the butterflies with a dark blue. The sentiment is stamped in gray.

I popped the butterflies up on dimensionals for depth to an otherwise flat card.

Smooch Spark – Hello

I got a chance to play in the latest Sparks Challenge – a sketch!

kth_hello_giraffe

I’ve been wanting to use this cutie giraffe for awhile and this sketch was perfect for it! The grass is acting as the cross-section panel in the sketch.

Cuteasaurus

The Cuteasaurus stamp set is a new one from Paper Smooches (released Jan 1) – and cute is a perfect word for it!

kth_encourage_CheerUpGrumpasaurus

For my first card, I created a little scene to accompany the “grumpasaurus” sentiment. Poor T-Rex whacked his foot on some rocks! I did sneak in a speech bubble from He Said She Said, but everything else is from Cuteasaurus (including the exclamation point image).

kth_encourage_YouAreAwesome

My next card went in a totally different direction from the first. I really wanted to use the bone image as a bow, so I went all girly with my colors. I kept this simple (a 4 1/4″ square card) so I could pop it in a lunch box 🙂

Oooh, and some sneak peek news – I get to show off some new CHA products!! My post is scheduled for Jan 24.

Thanks for stopping by!

Extra Nine Lives

kth_goodday_PurrrfectDay

I had so much fun using this stamp set that I ended up with more cards than Kim needed for the Paper Smooches blog 🙂

I really loved this kitty image – so playful. I just turned him a bit so he fit snugged up with the sentiment and added the ball of yarn.

Thanks for taking a peek!
