Summer Brights

kth_summer

I made this card for the SCS Fan Club sketch challenge (DSKETCH0409). Are you a fan club member? It is a great way to support a great community! {SCS Fan Club}

When I first saw the sketch I had lots of ideas, but after a week of rain, I am looking forward to the bright summer! The letters were easy to make. I took glossy cardstock and used markers to make stripes. Then I stamped the outline alphabet and cut out the letters.

On the inside I used a leftover piece of the “rainbow” glossy paper. For some reason this TAC set doesn’t include a sun (the only sentiment in the set is “sizzlin’ summer” – you’d think they’d have a sun image *grin*) but I found another TAC set that did.

Today I was ruminating on the topic of style – not clothing, I don’t have any style there! No, I mean my card-making style. I generally recognize a few styles: collage, vintage, clean-and-simple, and lots-of-layers. I never seem to keep to one particular style, though some styles are definitely harder for me. I always cop-out on style questions and say eclectic. About the only thing I truly know is that I enjoy working with bright colors, which I find interesting because I do *not* do bright in any other aspect of my life.

Birthday Cones

I apologize for not posting more frequently – this is spring break time. The girls use my computer, which is also at my stamp table, so I’m left with books…which if you know me, means sucking my undivided attention until I’m done 🙂 I just finished Atlas Shrugged (you can read my reviews on my Book Review page).

I’ve had this card in the works for a week. It started with the PTI Forum challenge to use your stamps in a different way (cmwc47) and when I saw Dawn’s color challenge (rscc1), I knew it would be perfect for what I wanted to do.

I know the party-hat-as-ice-cream-cone isn’t a new idea, but I hadn’t done it myself. It is a fun result!

Parade of Bugs

kth_paradeofbugs

This card is for an upcoming InkUp stamp camp. Mom wanted a kid card, so I made a Parade of Bugs waterfall card. I used the SCS Tutorial for the waterfall technique. I think this turned out cute – I love how you can see each of the buggys’ faces!

Simply Hoppy

kth_bday_simplyhoppy

This card was created for the Clean & Simple challenge at SCS (CAS04). The challenge was to accent with dots – pierced or markered. I’ve always wanted to do a card like this – with piercings delineating the “focal area”. Unfrogettable is one of my favorite sets and since I haven’t used it in awhile, I thought he would be a cute addition to the card.

Happy Birthday
All Stampin’Up! unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Unfrogettable, Happy Everything;
Ink: Glorious Green, Garden Green, Yoyo Yellow;
Paper: White (PTI);
Other: piercer;
