So Sorry

Just like yesterday’s post, I used the layout by Lynn (here).

For this card, I wanted a more calm card (instead of yesterday’s bright colors). I started with a Crumb Cake card base (something not so dark that I could still stamp the sentiment without having to heat emboss it to show up). I used a bit Comfort Cafe DSP for the top portion.

Using the punches and DSP made this a really quick card!

I really like that this card can be used for just about any “sorry” situation.

Thanks for stopping by!

Rockin’ Birthday

I created this card for my niece. I wanted something colorful and fun.

I used the harlequin stamp from Potpourri to create the floor – which turned out so much better than I thought it would – so happy!

The jukebox is stamped, colored, cut-out, and popped-up.

I love the added texture the striped impression plates – makes it look like paneling (which is what I was going for). The serendipitous part is that I was trying to get the stripes all the way down to the floor, but I gauged wrong and ended up with baseboard – and I love that extra touch! Now I just hope I can do it again the next time, lol!

Birthday Ride

This is the final card I made while at my mom’s house.

This time I wanted to have a bright sunny watercolored scene. I pulled out the hostess set – Summer Afternoon and went at it.

I mounted the watercolored panel on Daffodil yellow to help bring out the sunny background.

The sentiment is normally two lines, but I wanted all on one – so some simple masking and I got it done.

3 Cheers

This is another card I made at my mom’s. This is the new Happy Hour set (after playing with it, I decided it would be a good one to have – sometimes I just love a solid image).

My kiddo doesn’t think “3 cheers” is a good birthday sentiment, but I do!

All the glasses and accessories are hand-cut. For the final touch, I added a bit of Dazzling Details glitter glue on the strawberry, margarita glass rim, and umbrella.

In My Thoughts

I was at my mom’s house just before StampinUp Convention. Mom handed me a panel of Pretty in Pink and the Reason to Smile set and said make a card for swapping. Hmmm.

I ended up pulling the Pink Pirouette DSP from the pack – um mostly because I forgot that Pretty in Pink was in the same pack – so I just went with the first pink I found, lol.

I kept the design simple (we didn’t have a lot of time to get it done). I popped the flower head on dimensionals. The vanilla panel is also popped up – which provides a nice little shadow (which translates into dimension).

Simply Everything

While I was away from home, I did have access to my mom’s stamps – and I needed a birthday card.

I pulled out the Everything Eleanor set because I loved the images. I did have to hand-cut the flower and label, but it didn’t take long.

I kept the design very simple, but I really like the colors.

Blue Rose

As usual, I’m trying to catch up on more challenges (and I’ll be gone this weekend too, so more non-stamping time, boo). So this card is for the CAS-ual Friday color challenge (cfc63).

I love these colors! When I stamped the rose, I only used the top 2 layers of the stamp so that there would be plenty of white showing through – I think it makes it look more graphic/modern.

As for the layout – I started by trimming the card base down to just 4″ wide (a trick I learned from Maile Belles). Then I embossed the scallop square – it is harder to get that straight than I thought it would be, gah! Finally the rose is mounted with dimensionals.

Summer at Night

CAS-ual Friday’s latest challenge is: Back in Black.

I admit I was a little intimidated at first. Even a traipse through my digital index didn’t come up with anything immediately.

Then I found a cool fabric on Pinterest (first photo at this source).

I loved the bold waves of color and used that inspiration to create my card. I love how the black makes those bright colors pop even more!

The sentiment is stamped with white craft ink and embossed with glitter/clear embossing powder.

To My Core

I love playing the Paper Smooches Sparks challenges! This week’s trend watch challenge was “Food Fresh” (see it here).

I chose to use the apple image from Falling for You. My hubby will be on a business trip soon, so this will get tucked into his suitcase.

When creating this card, I loved the lines of the shopping cart (on the image that was used to introduce the challenge) – they reminded me of the little heart image in the same set. The lines also made me think to use the Picnic Plaid impression plate on the background.

I paper pieced the apple – and chose a cream colored natural-fiber paper for the core. I carried over that same paper for the sentiment die cut (because why can’t I use white and cream together??). I love that the naturals paper has fibers that remind me of a real apple (no apple core is a stark flat color).

I love this card so much, I’m going to enter it into the Paper Smooches guest designer search!

Independence Day

With all the recent fires here in Colorado, we did some donating to help support the fire companies involved. I, of course, couldn’t just send a check – I needed a card.

I came up with this quick and easy design. And liked it so much I made extras.

The extras will be used by my kids to send to our troops. Today we’ll be thinking of all those things we can do because of our freedoms.

FYI – these card will be getting to the troops via Operation Write Home.
