Unfrogettable Birthday

The latest One-Layer Wednesday challenge is to use border stamps (olw17). I own a ton of wheels and don’t use them as often as I should.

Once I picked a wheel to use, the rest of the card fell together. Of course, after it was all colored I realized I should have added spots to the frog…but done is done – and it can’t be all bad…my youngest kiddo has already claimed this for their own birthday (9 months from now, lol).

I guess practice does help – I am definitely feeling easier about making one-layer cards.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Fashion

The next round of competition for the CAS DT at SCS has begun – actually, it took me so long to come up with a card the round is almost over! The challenge was to use pattern paper. You would think with the amount of pattern paper I own and love that I would use it, but after looking at my cards – especially the clean-and-simple ones – it becomes obvious that I enjoy looking at the paper more than using it!

The optional part of the challenge was a theme – fashion. Um, didn’t get that worked in – unless you count the title of this post 😉

Made My Day
Stamps: Leaf Prints, Simple Little Things (PTI);
Paper: Rustic Cream, Vintage Cream (PTI); Autumn Vine DSP, Brushed Bronze (SU);
Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU);
Other: Leaf dies (PTI); Fancy Tags die (Spellbinders); clear rhinestones (Kaiser) colored with Copic;

Skeleton Walk

The skeleton image from SU’s Scary Skeleton is normally doing a jig. I’m not sure why, but it definitely makes working with the image a bit more difficult. For this card, I preformed surgery. I stamped the image a few times and cut it all up and rearranged the bones in a somewhat more natural appearance (just don’t look too closely 😉 ). It was a pain, but I would probably do it again because I love this little dude!

The top bit of the card was stamped with a stripey pattern then I went back over some of the lines with a glittery gel pen and other lines with a glossy gel pen.

Thanks for taking a peek.

Miss You

One of my favorite stampers is Susan (aka LateBlossom on SCS – blog). She is a fabulous clean-and-simple stamper. She has a one-layer challenge every Wednesday. I love those challenges, but one-layer is hard for me. I’ve done just about all of them – but have only shared a couple of them.

This past Wednesday, her challenge was scene stamps (olw16). I have a few scene stamps and contemplated making a whole big scene, but in the end I opted for this simple stamp by Our Craft Lounge and coloring it with sunset colors.

My hubby is going on a trip later this week and I’ll tuck this in his suitcase before he goes.

i miss you

Splash of Pink

Last night I had extra energy so I decided to stamp. I was very inspired by a recent posting at A Creative Mint (Neon Pink). I loved the tiny touches of pink with everything else being black, white, and grey.

I decided I would use the Argyle set from PTI for my splash of pink. The grey buck in the picture had me looking for a majestic animal – which apparently I don’t own, lol. I went with attitude instead. This cat is actually from a halloween set, but without the sentiment, it can be used for any ole reason. I have a few bold alphabets, but I didn’t feel like lining up letters, so I went with the boldest sentiment set I have. I added the final touch of pink with a rhinestone where the collar would be.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Fabulous
Stamps: Halloween Dingbats (CTMH); A Little Argyle, Say it with Style (PTI);
Colors: White, True Black (PTI); Pixie Pink (SU); London Fog (Memento);
Other: Rhinestone (Kaiser);

Birthday Fishes

I made this card for the latest CAS challenge on SCS (cas77). I have a few fish images, but I opted for PTI’s Pond Life because it is a set I don’t use often (it intimidates me). I had a bunch of sketches on my scrap paper and when I saw the one from Sketch This (101), I knew it would work.

The card finished a bit less CAS than I usually do, but I think it still feels clean and simple.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Happy Thoughts

This is another card for mom’s camp. I kept the card simple, but the texture in the background really makes the card feel richer. The camp’s theme is fall, so that is how I chose my colors.

Stamps: Apple Blossom;
Colors: Riding Hood Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, White;

Birthday in Paradise

I made this card to be used by my mom for an upcoming stamp camp. Mom’s clients have been wanting to see more cards without embellishment. Oh, I can do that! And a bonus, this is a masculine card. [Actually, I might have to make another for my hubby’s birthday!]

I used craft ink to stamp the leaves. I was hoping for more opaque coverage, but I’m kinda liking it this the way.

You’re Fabulous

Over on SCS the Dirty Dozen (past and present) are hosting challenges. There are over 30 challenges. I’d love to do them all, but there just isn’t time. Heck it was all I could do to get these photographed (my hubby has my camera on his trip this week).

This first card was for a challenge to create a card based on a tv or movie. My girls and I are obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance. Even though our favorites (both Alex & Ashley) are out with injuries, we still love watching and playing armchair judge!

I used the colors that are prevalent on the SYTYCD website. I also dug out this old set from TAC. I was also inspired by a Twisted Sketch (16). The sketch reminded me of a filmstrip which I thought quite appropriate for the challenge. The twist was to use metal – I went with staples.

See I even was inspired to do the inside of this card! The stamp set included 4 dancers, so I used that one instead of repeating one from the front. And I used the other half of the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

You’re Absolutely Fabulous
Stamps: Just Dance (TAC), Absolutely Fabulous (SU);

Firecracker

This is another One-Layer Wednesday challenge. The challenge was to use glitter or flock. I used a two-way glue to add glitter to the flourishes above the firecrackers.

I really like how this card turned out! And bonus, it was so quick and easy to make.
