Clearly a Time for Celebration

I created this card for the CASual Friday challenge to use vellum (cfc57). The layout is from a 2Peas’ Saturday Card Sketch challenge (June 16).

Of course, now I can’t find it 🙁 but I remember seeing a card done a while back using a Hero Arts(?) flower that was white embossed on vellum and I thought the Mixed Bunch Stampin’Up set would be a great substitute (and hey, I wouldn’t have to cut it out since there is a coordinating punch – bonus!).

Since I was doing vellum flowers, I knew my card base needed to be on the dark side (mwuahahaha). Once I chose the blue, I picked my accent color. The rest is just following the sketch and keeping to StampinUp supplies (look ma – another SUO card 🙂 ).

Watercolored Poppies

Hey look, ma – a Stampin’Up Only card 🙂

I received my box of StampinUp goodies recently and now that my house is good and clean, I took some time this morning to play!

This card is for the latest Clean & Simple challenge at SplitCoast (cas174) which is white layers on a white card base. I have been *lovin* the white cardstock lately, so this pulled together quite quickly!

I decided to watercolor the poppies. I’m not sure if it is artistic or sloppy ~hrm. The card didn’t photo well (I need to figure out how to reflect my light better). Anyway, the stems are watercolored in Pear and the flourishes on the tag are stamped in celery.

The poppies are watercolored with Cherry ink, but since watercoloring really dims the color, I had to pick a coordinating color ribbon – and was so very happy when Primrose practically matched!

Vintage Mother’s Day

This card is for my mom. Since she’s a StampinUp demo I always try to make her cards with only SU stuff.

I was so happy that Apothecary Art carried over to the big catalog – I hadn’t had a chance to play with it before now.

I stamped the image in Early Espresso and then watercolored it. Of course, the green leaves got muddy because espresso isn’t waterproof, but I think it adds to the vintage feel.

Grunge Gift

Next week is Mom’s “last chance” stamp camp (where she celebrates those sets that are retiring). My task was to make a teen card using Grunge Rock & Extreme Elements. But not just any card – a gift card for a graduate. Whew!

Now this isn’t overly “graduation” but it still qualifies 🙂

This is my first time doing grunge and thankfully it wasn’t too hard. I did place the melon splashes in their spots purposely. Also, I added a bit of turquoise to balance the ribbon bow.

To decide on the type of gift-card card to do, I did some searching – looking for a type that we hadn’t done yet, but that was also simple. Thankfully I ran across this card.

I ended up using the Rounded Tab and Word Window punches to make my opening.

Thanks for stopping by!

Congratulations

Cascading Blooms

I was in need of a few thank you cards, so I used my random-file program to pick a stamp set. This time Fifth Avenue was selected – and since this is on my to-do list for next month’s stamp camp, I figured I’d get a head start 🙂

The next stamp camp is in honor of retiring products, so I chose to use Peach Parfait as my starting color. I again used the CAS-ual Friday Opposites Attract challenge – so my other color ended up being Baja Breeze (one of my favorite colors).

Once I got the main card finished, I wanted to add a few additional pops of blue, so I took some Pearls and used a BIC alcohol marker to color them.

Happy Easter

My attempt at chocolate bunnies in my girls’ baskets this year was not a hit. By the time I got around to ordering chocolate (I prefer fair-trade chocolate), all that was left was dark chocolate…which apparently my girls don’t like. Next year I must remember to order early!

I created this card for the ColourQ Challenge (cqc131). These colors will soon be retired from the StampinUp arsenal. I’ve come to really love Pear and Bride! I’ve already made sure to ordered extra paper and ribbon 🙂

Vermillion Thoughts

I designed this card for a recent InkUp stamp camp. My requirements were Young Vermillion and watercoloring. I tried to keep the card simple because of the watercoloring and frame cut-out.

To do the frame, I first embossed the frame on Baja card stock. Then I trimmed around it. Finally I snipped a small slit into the center and used it to cut out the inside. I did this, instead of just layering the cream onto the frame, because I wanted the dimension and true fame-like feel. The Baja frame is popped-up over the cream pennant.

The card base is stamped with the Woodgrain background and lightly spritzed with Smooch.

The bird is watercolored (just a brush, a little water, and reinkers) using Red Riding Hood and Espresso.

I created this one-layer card for mom’s birthday stamp-a-stack camp. All this takes is a little masking.

Pop Up for Spring

I created this card for mom’s February camp. We like to throw in funky folds occasionally, so I decided to do a Free Standing Pop-Up card (tutorial @ SCS).

Shabby Chic Mother’s Day

I created this card for mom’s next stamp camp. She wanted me to make a Mother’s Day card using Aviary.

Each (catalog) year she asks her customers what they’d like to see in the coming months. One thing on the current list is more shabby chic. This isn’t a style that either of us like doing. It has been a while since our last shabby card so I thought I’d give it a go for this card.

I used LOTS of products on this card, but it still came together pretty quickly.

I stamped the bird cage base onto the Vanilla panel first, then I embossed it (sometimes I don’t think about it in the right order, lol). Then I just layered and layered until I felt it was enough. I know I could have taken this to another level, but since this is for stamp camp, I needed it to be doable within the time constraints.
