Shell-ebrate

For the final round of the SCS CAS design team search, Jenn set a color challenge (SpringDT3). The colors are: bashful blue, certainly celery, and creamy caramel.

It took me awhile to decide what to do with my card, but this idea kept coming back to me, so I decided not to continuing ignoring it. I had to go with the colors I have in Copic, so my green is more Gable Green than Celery, and I went with Kraft because I love it; I think my changes still qualify.

I had fun coloring this little guy. I added a bit of green scallops under the sentiment because it needed it. I finished off the card base with some polka dot debossing.

Willow

I created this card for the For Your Inspiration challenge (fyi24). The inspiration photo is a lush garden scene – all greens with a pond and willow tree. I would love to spend the day there!

I really loved the willow tree (many childhood memories). So I started with that. I did decide not to make my whole card green (though it was very tempting). I needed a sympathetic thinking of you card, so I wanted more muted tones. I trimmed the card down to make it a touch narrower (4″ instead of 4 1/4″).

The ribbon is PTI silk ribbon that I colored with a Copic. That was SO quick easy and really turned out wonderfully. I can see me doing that again.

Just a Number

I made it to the second round of the CAS DT spring search at SCS. The next challenge was an inspiration challenge (here). The photo was a bright playground scene. The numbers across the bars are what really drew my eye.

I decided to make a card for my sister – her birthday is in a couple weeks (I can post this now because she doesn’t read my blog).

I wanted to keep the bright colors, but make them a little trendier than bold primary. The “it’s just a number” sentiment was the first thing I thought about using. The bars in the picture kept jumping out at me so I decided to add a line of text behind the number die cuts.

Cowabunga

I created this card for the Waltzing Mouse sketch challenge (wmsc85).

The sketch is a hard one if you don’t have the right stamps…but I turned it on its side and found it much easier.

I’ve been in love with this swoop image since I bought the set – but I haven’t used it yet. For this card, I inked the image first with Aqua Mist then went back and touched the outside edge with Hawaiian Shores. It is a light gradient, but it is more obvious in person.

No idea who I’ll give this card to – but it was fun (and quick!).

Dreams Take Flight

It is CAS design team search time again at Splitcoast (here). The first challenge is an encouragement card using nature elements.

I spent many hours just trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I think not having stamped in a couple weeks had my mojo on the edge!

I finally decided to use PTI’s Happy Trails which hadn’t seen ink yet. The butterfly ended up being too small, so I added a second die-cut behind it. The card base has a touch of embossing.

Different Valentine

This is another card I created for my mom’s December stamp camp.

This time we wanted a card that used a set that wasn’t your typical valentine and we wanted the feel of it to not scream valentine either.

The background stamping was masked so the flourish would not appear below the sentiment.

The flower is stamped 3 times and cut out in layers and popped up to create a dimensional flower.

I added tiny pearls to the flourish for a final touch.

You Turn My World Upside Down

I made this card months ago when I first got the stamp set, but never got around to posting it here. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I figured I better get in gear!

I thought I was clever putting the bat right-side up and having the sentiment say “upside down”, but it took my hubby for*evah* to figure it out!

To do the sentiment, I printed some words (“turn” “upside down”) on the computer and then selectively inked the “you color my world” sentiment and stamped it in place (hence the slight color difference in blacks).

Colors: Sweet Blush, Plum Pudding (PTI);

Love Mail

I created this card for PTI’s Day 7 challenge – to use hearts. I chose to use the Mailbox Greetings set because it has a cute heart bunch, but then I ended up not using it, lol.

I re-used yesterday’s sketch too. I can see me using that a LOT! 🙂

The card is pretty straight foward.

Spring Elements

This weekend is a Virtual Stamp Night (well, really weekend). This is the “mini” weekend so just a handful of challenges today & tomorrow. I created this card for the first challenge. But I’m not happy with it, so I stopped playing. Still, I wanted to post the card anyway, cuz I’m like that.

I honestly don’t know what it is I don’t like. I’m not sure if the cut-outs are too high but it was after I drew the frame that I stopped liking it, so maybe something with that. I tried to make it better by putting rhinestones on it (over the already stamped ‘sparkles’ that are part of the sentiment – I won’t do that again). If you have thoughts – please share.

Anyway, I do really like the way the rainbow and white embossed elements turned out – which I guess is why I’m sharing. 🙂
