You’ve Got This

You've Got This | by karen @ carefree creations

I made this card weeks ago, but didn’t get a chance to photograph it before I gave it to my kid – to encourage them during finals week. They are a perfectionist, so tests are hard (they’re always sure they failed).

There is a sentiment stamped in the background – “so proud of you” – just repeated over and over.

Folk Birthday

The latest Less is More challenge keyword is Homespun. I have a couple sets that fit that, but this one called out to me.

This is a one layer card colored with pencils.

With Love

With Love | by karen @ carefree creations

Yesterday and today I binge-watched the Star Wars movies as a refresher before we went to see #7 tonight. That meant lots of time to stamp. This morning I made this card for the Freshly Made Sketches #217 challenge.

It isn’t normal that I reach for pattern paper (other than to drool over it), but the negative space technique paired with the challenge sketch was perfect for using it.

Merry & Bright New Year

Merry & Bright New Year | by karen @ carefree creations

Made this card for the CASology: Merry challenge.

I’m very done with Christmas cards, but there are lots of reasons to be merry! I decided to go with a New Year’s card. I kept it simple with a black & white card and pops of gold.

I {heart} U

I {heart} U | by karen @ carefree creations

This card is for the CAS(E) This Sketch.

I have lots of alphabet sentiment cards pinned and I thought this sketch would be a great time to do my own. Since Valentine’s is coming up, I decided to go with this configuration.

I chose the Invisible Alphabet because I love how it looks embossed and really does allow the sentiment to be the focus. I did use a pen to color in the I and U.

PTI Blog Hop – Holiday Thanks

Today is PTI’s December Blog Hop. Here is the inspiration photo:

And here is my card:

What caught me first, in the inspiration image, was the wreath like placement of the leaves on the top and bottom plates. I started with that and went off from there.

Thanks to the Delivery Folks

I know I should “buy local”, but there is nothing I cringe more at than shopping at Christmas time – just too many people! I do 90% of my shopping online, so I like to leave little gift bags for those folks who deliver the packages (I can’t image what a hectic job that is at this time of year!). This is something I did last year but neglected to take a photo of the gift (at least this year I remembered to snap a photo of the panel).

Here is the panel I put in the bag (I write a note on the back):

For those that are interested, in the package is a lip balm, travel-size hand lotion, travel package of tissues, a couple chocolates, and a $5 gift card to Starbucks.

Frosty Season

Red & Green Snowflakes | by karen @ carefree creations

I squeezed in 3 challenges for this card: CAS Colours & Sketches #154, CASual Fridays: Snowflakes, and Simon Says Stamp – Monday: Holly Jolly Stamping

For the CC&S challenge we were to pick an old sketch and make it Christmasy. I chose CCS#31. I know snowflakes aren’t typically stamped in red and green, but I really am happy with how this turned out. I used my favorite Christmas color scheme: bright red & green with a pop of yellow. And bonus – this is a one-layer card!

Playing along with the CASology: Tree challenge.

I knew the layout I wanted to do for this card and I didn’t want a white card base, so I found a light mint green, which I thought was a fun Christmas alternative.

Peace and Beauty

Peace & Beauty | by karen @ carefree creations

This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches #216 challenge.

I’m thinking the splatters keep it from being “clean” – a requirement for this challenge. But I like the added texture. And those splatters – dang gravity! I had this card sitting up on a shelf to dry and it fell down. Thankfully face-up, but a couple of the juicier spots now have a comet tail…oh well.

This was an ultra quick card for me – I think it took 10 minutes from conception to completion. I stamped the pine image on the card base and the sentiment on the Chalk Talk tag. Added some splatters to the card base; popped the tag up with dimensionals, and added a couple of Sharpie-colored rhinestones. Done!
