Cascading Blooms

I was in need of a few thank you cards, so I used my random-file program to pick a stamp set. This time Fifth Avenue was selected – and since this is on my to-do list for next month’s stamp camp, I figured I’d get a head start 🙂

The next stamp camp is in honor of retiring products, so I chose to use Peach Parfait as my starting color. I again used the CAS-ual Friday Opposites Attract challenge – so my other color ended up being Baja Breeze (one of my favorite colors).

Once I got the main card finished, I wanted to add a few additional pops of blue, so I took some Pearls and used a BIC alcohol marker to color them.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Thanks so Much

Chevrons & Blossoms

I created this card for the Embellish Magazine’s Chevron Color challenge.

For the layout, I found a sketch at 2Peas (Saturday Sketch with Kimber).

I trimmed the card base down to 4″ so the chevrons would over hang just a bit (but it would all still fit into an envelope).

Thanks to You

Colors: Lavender Moon, Plum Pudding, Smokey Shadow, White (PTI); Going Grey, Baja Breeze (SU);

Dog(wood) & Butterfly

I created this card for the CAS-ual Friday challenge – Opposites Attract.

The stamp set was chosen with the random-file program that I use.

The layout is a Fall-to-Layout (#186).

I did the coloring with pencils; mostly because I knew I wanted the Dogwood blossoms to be white and pencils was the easiest way…so it just made sense to do the butterfly with the same medium.

Thank You Wreath

This idea came to me just a couple hours before the sketch challenge deadline, but I’m squeaking this in! This layout (rs6) is a great basic layout that can be done and done and done and never look the same.

Oh and I got lucky – I’ve had this embossed panel in my scraps bucket for months and months. So glad it worked in this!

Colors: Autumn Rose, White, Lavender Moon, Chartreuse (PTI);
Other: Impression Plate (SU); Wreath die (Memory Box); Flower punch (SU); Rhinestones (Kaiser – colored w/ Copic);

Banners & Cupcakes

I know my card isn’t real original, but I’m actually quite happy with it. I have a hard time with pattern paper, and, while this is pretty busy, I think it works.

I used the latest Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge (wmsc92) for the layout.

To make the oval sentiment label, I simply traced the inner piece of the tag die onto white card stock and cut it out.

Birthday Sparks

Last week a new Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge was posted.

I loved the colors and the idea of highlighting a word or two with different colors.

When I read the inspiration photo, I thought the kitty image really had the air of a millionaire, so I had to use her. I colored her in with Copics. Then added a touch of bling to bring out the millionaire feel 😉

I Can Make a Flower Out of That!

This week’s Make-it-Monday (mim61) is to use non-flower dies to create flowers! It was so fun to flip through my dies looking at them in a whole new light! I really wanted to re-create a pansy with a butterfly (like I’ve seen folks do with another company’s punch)…but the ones I have just weren’t shaped right — maybe if PTI came out with a Butterfly Kisses die *hint hint* 🙂

So what I did use was hearts. I made sure to add 5 hearts so it wouldn’t look too much like a four-leaf clover. I did use Dawn’s idea for a button and twine center (my button is a die-cut though).

To do the sentiment I just selectively inked the words that would fit on my pennant.

The great layout is from Clean & Simple Stamping – Fall-to-Layout #185.

CAS Scallops

Monday’s Clean & Simple challenge at SplitCoast is all about scallops – and I’m a guest designer!

I love this Wonky Scallop die from My Favorite Things. I pretty much designed around it for this card. I liked having it hang off the card, so I trimmed the base to 5″ and the die cut to 5.5″ so the whole thing would fit in an envelope.

Happy Easter

My attempt at chocolate bunnies in my girls’ baskets this year was not a hit. By the time I got around to ordering chocolate (I prefer fair-trade chocolate), all that was left was dark chocolate…which apparently my girls don’t like. Next year I must remember to order early!

I created this card for the ColourQ Challenge (cqc131). These colors will soon be retired from the StampinUp arsenal. I’ve come to really love Pear and Bride! I’ve already made sure to ordered extra paper and ribbon 🙂

FYI – Chase the Gloomies Away

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI27. This challenge is sponsored by The Cutting Cafe.

This photo is so dramatic! I love the dark clouds in the background with the lighthouse still in the sun. I decided to go with the rain theme.

I used lots of shades of grey – and touches of color. I stamped the umbrella and galoshes on white paper so their white would pop.

While I did use two grey papers, this card is done with only one grey ink! The clouds and umbrella handle are generation impressions (the dark cloud is after stamping off once, the small cloud twice and the umbrella handle 3 times).
