Coral Doilies

I haven’t played the ColourQ challenge in forever so when I needed a card but wasn’t sure where to start, I fired up their blog to see what was what. I loved the latest challenge (#127) of chocolate, coral, bride, and celery.

I recently received the StampinUp Doily set and it called my name today! The scallops along the bottom are done using the new StampinUp edge dies – love the scalloped scallops!!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Trigger Spots

I really loved this week’s Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World (apricots in a bowl).

It is pretty straight forward from the inspiration photo. I ended up using pink instead of peach because I didn’t have any peach pattern paper.

For Your Inspiration

Oh my! This is my first post as a design team member for the For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI25. This month’s challenge is sponsored by Your Next Stamp.

Beautiful! I figured the photo was from Greece so I started out thinking about using some cool Moroccan shapes, but when I was browsing my stamp index and saw Mehndi I knew I wanted to use it (ok, I *know* all those things don’t really belong together, but a stamper is allowed creative license, yes??).

For my card, I was inspired by the colors. My card base is Pacific Point. I layered a strip of Melon card stock along the side and then the white panel is on top. The rhinestone brad only goes through the white panel (I don’t like stuff showing on the insides).

Thanks for taking a peek!

A Little About the Challenge: The For Your Inspiration challenge is posted the First and Third Thursdays of each month. Steph, the challenge coordinator, will post a photo and you make a card – however the inspiration hits you. The first challenge each month is sponsored and will have a prize!

March Winds

I made this card a few months ago – because I wanted to play with my new stamps. I love Paper Smooches images, but cutsey is hard for me!

I stamped the kite onto DSP and cut it out. The clouds were stamped and hand-cut. Hard to see but I added a bit of grey Copic along the inside of the clouds.

The sun is actually a PTI Limitless Layers Circle die! And since that was all pointed, I added some pinking edges.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Razzleberry Rose

This week’s Clean & Simple challenge at SCS was a color challenge: Rich Razzleberry and White. Razzleberry is one of my favorite colors!

I had tons of ideas, but settled on using this rose from an old set – Abundant Joy. I stamped the rose full strength, but the sentiment is off-stamped, though the ink is quite rich and so it is hard to see any difference.

I also added an embossed square around the image. I did the embossing from the back so that the embossing is out, not in (debossed).

Shell-ebrate

For the final round of the SCS CAS design team search, Jenn set a color challenge (SpringDT3). The colors are: bashful blue, certainly celery, and creamy caramel.

It took me awhile to decide what to do with my card, but this idea kept coming back to me, so I decided not to continuing ignoring it. I had to go with the colors I have in Copic, so my green is more Gable Green than Celery, and I went with Kraft because I love it; I think my changes still qualify.

I had fun coloring this little guy. I added a bit of green scallops under the sentiment because it needed it. I finished off the card base with some polka dot debossing.

Willow

I created this card for the For Your Inspiration challenge (fyi24). The inspiration photo is a lush garden scene – all greens with a pond and willow tree. I would love to spend the day there!

I really loved the willow tree (many childhood memories). So I started with that. I did decide not to make my whole card green (though it was very tempting). I needed a sympathetic thinking of you card, so I wanted more muted tones. I trimmed the card down to make it a touch narrower (4″ instead of 4 1/4″).

The ribbon is PTI silk ribbon that I colored with a Copic. That was SO quick easy and really turned out wonderfully. I can see me doing that again.

Just a Number

I made it to the second round of the CAS DT spring search at SCS. The next challenge was an inspiration challenge (here). The photo was a bright playground scene. The numbers across the bars are what really drew my eye.

I decided to make a card for my sister – her birthday is in a couple weeks (I can post this now because she doesn’t read my blog).

I wanted to keep the bright colors, but make them a little trendier than bold primary. The “it’s just a number” sentiment was the first thing I thought about using. The bars in the picture kept jumping out at me so I decided to add a line of text behind the number die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cowabunga

I created this card for the Waltzing Mouse sketch challenge (wmsc85).

The sketch is a hard one if you don’t have the right stamps…but I turned it on its side and found it much easier.

I’ve been in love with this swoop image since I bought the set – but I haven’t used it yet. For this card, I inked the image first with Aqua Mist then went back and touched the outside edge with Hawaiian Shores. It is a light gradient, but it is more obvious in person.

No idea who I’ll give this card to – but it was fun (and quick!).
