Dreams Take Flight

It is CAS design team search time again at Splitcoast (here). The first challenge is an encouragement card using nature elements.

I spent many hours just trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I think not having stamped in a couple weeks had my mojo on the edge!

I finally decided to use PTI’s Happy Trails which hadn’t seen ink yet. The butterfly ended up being too small, so I added a second die-cut behind it. The card base has a touch of embossing.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Different Valentine

This is another card I created for my mom’s December stamp camp.

This time we wanted a card that used a set that wasn’t your typical valentine and we wanted the feel of it to not scream valentine either.

The background stamping was masked so the flourish would not appear below the sentiment.

The flower is stamped 3 times and cut out in layers and popped up to create a dimensional flower.

I added tiny pearls to the flourish for a final touch.

You Turn My World Upside Down

I made this card months ago when I first got the stamp set, but never got around to posting it here. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I figured I better get in gear!

I thought I was clever putting the bat right-side up and having the sentiment say “upside down”, but it took my hubby for*evah* to figure it out!

To do the sentiment, I printed some words (“turn” “upside down”) on the computer and then selectively inked the “you color my world” sentiment and stamped it in place (hence the slight color difference in blacks).

Love Mail

I created this card for PTI’s Day 7 challenge – to use hearts. I chose to use the Mailbox Greetings set because it has a cute heart bunch, but then I ended up not using it, lol.

I re-used yesterday’s sketch too. I can see me using that a LOT! 🙂

The card is pretty straight foward.

Spring Elements

This weekend is a Virtual Stamp Night (well, really weekend). This is the “mini” weekend so just a handful of challenges today & tomorrow. I created this card for the first challenge. But I’m not happy with it, so I stopped playing. Still, I wanted to post the card anyway, cuz I’m like that.

I honestly don’t know what it is I don’t like. I’m not sure if the cut-outs are too high but it was after I drew the frame that I stopped liking it, so maybe something with that. I tried to make it better by putting rhinestones on it (over the already stamped ‘sparkles’ that are part of the sentiment – I won’t do that again). If you have thoughts – please share.

Anyway, I do really like the way the rainbow and white embossed elements turned out – which I guess is why I’m sharing. 🙂

Owl Be Yours

This card started a few days ago for the PTI color challenge. I had chosen to use Lisa’s colors: Kraft, Poppy, Moss, Aqua. But I couldn’t get it to work, so I set it aside.

Then I decided to catch up on my normal weekly challenges – like the Clean & Simple challenge at SCS. This weeks is to use hearts (cas156).

When stamping the bough, I did not ink one of the sub-branches because I knew the owls would be sitting there. It is hard to see in the photo, but I used the wood grain impression plate on the card base.

Stitched Thoughts

I created this card for PTI’s Day 6 festivities. I chose to use sketch 2 – and stuck exactly to it.

I chose to use the Stitches & Swirls set because it hadn’t seen ink yet. Also, it seemed to go with the stitched border in the sketch.

This card is for Operation Write Home, so I wanted this to be very mailable (flat).

Inspired Wish

Well, I missed yesterday’s PTI challenge (color challenges are not easy for me, not sure why). But I definitely had to join in today’s – it was all about Pinterest. I love Pinterest (read ‘I spend way too much time on Pinterest.’) 🙂

I recently pinned this little beauty. I found it through Pinterest, but it originally came from Minted.

I was really drawn to how the circles overlapped and their darker heart images.

To do my stamping, I inked up the circle and stamped it on scratch paper first and then stamped onto my project. The stars are fully inked when stamped.

I’m actually quite pleased with this card – I have a real hard time with one-layer cards and this one doesn’t feel lacking!

Pastel Posies

I created this card for the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge (view).

I drew my inspiration from the theme (flowers), colors, and techniques (pinking).

I used the tree from Gently Seasoned to be the foliage behind the flowers. The leaves aren’t quite as dark in person; they don’t match the celery, but they at least complement it better than in the photo.

The flowers are paper pieced.
