Nordic Waltz

This month’s WaltzingMouse blog waltz theme is Winter/Christmas. WMS recently designed a set called Nordic Winter. I love this set – it reminds me of all those cool sweaters 🙂

To get started with my card I spent {we won’t say how long} surfing the web looking at Nordic sweaters getting ideas. I eventually sketched my own pattern based on all that I saw.

Thanks for stopping by! And don’t forget to check out the others: Waltz Thread.

Bouquet for the Birthday Girl

As soon as I saw Arielle’s Halloween Bouquet digi image, I knew I had to have it. See, my SIL *loves* Halloween and she has a wicked sense of humor. This birthday card is perfect for her!

I did have a lot of fun making the card, but really it is all about the flowers! I colored them with Copics. I cut a window in the top layer and popped it up over the flowers. The ribbon is just wrapped around and the bow was done separately and glue-dotted on.

Thanksgiving Blessings

This is another card I created for mom’s stitching newsletter. This time I used Faux Stitching (and I still couldn’t get it straight, lol).

I stamped the leafy floret (I had to mask & stamp the stem again at the bottom to make it go all the way down). I stamped and cut-out the flower – adhering it with dimensionals.

For the sentiment panel, first I trimmed the ends, then I stamped the words. Next, I adhered the strip to the Saffron panel. After all that I did the the faux stitching.

Wheely Grateful

This card is for mom’s November camp. I’m really happy with how this card turned out!

I inked the wheel with Pool Party, then went back over the sentiment I wanted using the Espresso marker. Now, my wheel in unmounted, so I ended up having to stamp this in stages, but for camp, they’ll just roll it out making sure the sentiment is about 1″ up from the bottom.

Then I cleaned the wheel and, using the Mustard marker, inked up the leaf I wanted. Stamped on scrap and cut it out.

Just finish it up with a strip of pattern paper and some twine.

Easy peasy 🙂

Playing with Fabric

Back in September I put together a few cards for my mom’s newsletter on stitching. On this card I decided to use the StampinUp fabric as well as stitching.

I die cut about four butterflies and machine stitched them to the Crumb Cake layer. My little machine doesn’t like tight curves, so I did part of it manually moving the needle up and down. Not fun!

To do the ruffled border, I ran a long straight stitch down the center of the fabric. Then I pulled one of the threads and gathered the fabric as I went.

Autumn Birthday

A birthday card for sending out as a RAK. This started as a color challenge card, but I deviated and decided I liked it better.

This isn’t meant as a masculine card, but once I was done I realized that, despite my normal avoidance of ribbon on masculine cards, this one works quite well.

Magical Birthday

I love this pony image (I grew up in the 80’s, so yeah, it only makes sense, lol).

The card has lots of colors, so I kept everything else very limited…not a lot of textures/patterns or other accents.

Warm Cider

My mom has a recipe for a warm cider that she used to make during the holidays. I love that stuff – it is warm and spicy.

I was thinking of the cider when I made this card. The focal accent is done using stamps/dies from Papertrey. The stick is meant to be a peppermint stick (at least that is what it is sold as), but I thought it could easily be a cinnamon stick (an ingredient in the cider).

The cinnamon stick was cut from Cajun Craze card stock and I used a bit of striped Cajun DSP too. The off stripes in the paper reminded me of Melon Berry (one of my favorite PTI colors). I wrapped it all up with Chocolate Chip.

WMS SOAP CASE

Whew, an all acronym title – I feel like I’m either shouting or talking military, lol.

I created this card for Claire’s SOAP CASE challenge (read about it here).

I chose Tosh’s beautiful card (see). I really loved the simple design with bright colors and the white on white borders.

I tried to stick to the idea of her card without completely copying it. I did my borders top and bottom. I used Teeny Trees and added some ribbon.

I tried to emboss the stars, but I either used old pigment ink or old powder as it didn’t do as well as I hoped. No worries, I just went to plan B and added some cute silver jewels.

Celebrate

Earlier today I was going through my blog reader posts and came across a great card by Agnieszka (the card).

I really liked the text background and the large focal images. I pinned the card thinking I’d get around to CASEing it one day. But since my mojo is wanning, I went ahead and created a card.
