Rainy Day

I really have missed stamping! This is the second card I made today 🙂

This one was specifically created for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge (wmsc54). I flipped the sketch around. I added a bit of Stickles (Patina) to the larger rain drops.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Artful Thanks

I’m working on teacher projects again. This time for the local/current teachers. It is so nice to be back in a system that has music, art, and PE in the regular schedule with a dedicated and knowledgeable teacher!

I created this card for, can you guess? 😀 Yes, the art teacher. My girls both love doing art projects. And now they are getting real instruction.

The idea for this card is actually due to the current sketch at Waltzingmouse (wmsc48). I originally pulled out my Teeny Trees set (new to me – and loving it!!) to use the circle stamp as I’ve seen others do, but then the other tree tops caught my eye and this idea just popped right in my head. I had to go for it!

I hand drew and cut out the palette. Then I stamped a rainbow using 3 different tree tops. I finished it off with a sentiment from Say it Loudly which is probably one of my favorite sentiment sets now!

Thanks

Hugs in a Bag

I’m squeaking this project in just before the deadline. See Waltzingmouse is turning two this month and Claire is having a tea party to celebrate (details). She even offered this really cool tea bag template for free!

I don’t really do frou-frou, so my bag is pretty basic. Since it is for a tea party, I did add a doily by Martha Stewart. And thankfully Claire’s contest is a random drawing winner, not the prettiest – otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered – have you seen the other entries??

Thanks for taking a peek!

Waltz with the Mouse

Not THAT mouse – a better one: Waltzingmouse Stamps 🙂

I so want that little guy from the logo as a stamp!

This month’s theme is masculine. This is always a tough category for me. Thankfully I have the Free Spirit Boy stamp set. There are a ton of images in this set.

The medallion was created using Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel. I’ve used this stuff before and even done this technique before, but it has been years…and boy it showed. I’m pretty certain I will be finding granules of this powder on my desk for months to come! The idea is to start with a card stock shape and ink it with Versamark. Then you add UTEE and heat it, once it melts, add more powder, and so on until you have a few layers. Then you take a Versamark-inked stamp and press into the goo; wait a minute a pull it out.

Since the medallion is so shiny and I opted for a busy pattern for the “tails” (they started as tails, as you see, they migrated up and out), I kept the rest of the card very simple.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bravo

July Banner

Today a new sketch at Waltzingmouse was posted (wmsc47). I just received my latest order and knew exactly what I would do.

I admit I bought the Bitty Banner set just for these rounded banners. I’ve always loved the 4th of July banners I’ve seen done in this style. I kept the card very simple. It ended up being a long card because I wanted that many banners 🙂 I love the new WM set – Say it Loud – such a happy font! I had to steal the “4th of July” bit from a Papertrey set.

Lucky Chevrons

I created this card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge (wmsc45). I will say that the idea looked better in my head, lol. Still, it was fairly quick card to make, even with all the background stamping.

Thanks for taking a peek!

Good Luck

Fancy Bird

I created this card for the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge (wmsc44).

I’ve been trying to use stuff I haven’t used ever or at least in a long time. I don’t think I’d used the Label 1 stamp set yet – and that would work well with the sketch. I decided to add the bird cage and then thought it still needed something, so I finished up with the leaf die.

I’ve been doing so many CAS cards, that this one isn’t sitting right with me. I can’t decide if it is too busy or too plain, lol. Any suggestions welcomed!

Thanks for stopping by.

With Love

I made this for the Waltzingmouse sketch (wmsc43).

I needed a card to send to a new great-grandma. I chose to do pastel colors. Since this is traveling to Japan, it needed to mail easily as well, so not too embellished. After die-cutting the butterfly I decided to emboss it to help it balance the branches on the other side.

Spring Lanterns

This week’s Waltzing Mouse sketch (wmsc39) includes a banner. I don’t have the banner set from WM (and it isn’t required to use WM supplies, but I prefer to try), so I had to come up with something a little different. I thought using the lanterns in the Asian Gardens set would be a perfect alternative.

I’m so glad I went that route – I *love* this card. I started by stamping the branches, foilage, and flowers on the main panel. Then I stamped and cut out the lanterns. I’m not sure how other folks do their banners, but for mine, I put a dot of glue on the back of each lantern then squished the thread into the glue. After that dried, I attached it to my base with dimensionals. The bows are done separately.

One note about the paper flower. Originally it had rounded petals, but the flowers in my background did not. All I did was use my snips to notch the paper flower petals – now it matches (the shape anyway; the color isn’t so obviously off IRL).

Also, the clear dot in the flower is a Hero Arts jewel (it isn’t faceted like normal rhinestones). I colored it with Copics…probably a bit too dark, but oh well.

(not so) Embellished

Embellish Magazine’s latest color challenge was a masculine theme (check it out). With many nephews in the family, I can always use a masculine birthday card, so I definitely needed to participate in this challenge!

After perusing my stamp index, I decided to use the paper airplane image (my nephews are getting older, so cute doesn’t really cut it any more). As with many of my one-layer cards, the stamped images didn’t end up quite where I wanted, so I chopped it up and made a layer instead. I added the checkerboard image to help with the “racing” feel of the airplanes.

On the inside I repeated the border (along the top as well, but you don’t see that in the picture). I also used the outline paper airplane image to make it feel cohesive.

Happy Birthday
