Thank You, Love

I’m playing along with CAS(e) This Sketch challenge.

Here is my card:

Thank You | by karen @ carefree creations

I used a border die to fill the corner. The heart die is two pieces so threading the sentiment strip through was easy.

Party Time

Today’s card is for the CASology challenge whose cue card is: Glisten.

Here is my card:

Party Time | by karen @ carefree creations

I had to think for a bit before I came up with a card for this cue word. I decided that condensation on a glass would be perfect. I haven’t used this beer set in a while and it is large enough to take center stage on a clean and simple card.

I used both layers of the pub glass die – the larger one is the top acetate sprinkled with texture spray; the smaller one cut from yellow and sponged with darker colors.

The foam die cut has paint spread on it. It was a kind of paint that I thought would expand/puff, but it didn’t. Still the swirls from it lend enough texture.

PTI Blog Hop – January 2017

Today is Papertrey Ink’s January Blog Hop! Here is the inspiration they provided:

I went the very obvious route:

Blooms on Black | by karen @ carefree creations

I love the way colors pop on black! I used color cardstock for the die cut flowers so that white was kept to a minimum.

And as these things go for me, it wasn’t until I uploaded my photo that I decided I needed to add white dots (like found in the inspiration). It amazes me how that tiny touch really makes the card!

Thanks for taking a peek!

You’re the Best (Snowflake)

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

You're the Best | by karen @ carefree creations

I figured I really should do some sort of seasonal card, so I went with snowflakes. Since I wanted a CAS card, I kept the pattern paper to a minimum. I love plaid – and chose a pattern that was dense without a lot of white showing. I also wanted darker colors so the white snowflake would stand out.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

A Little About the Challenge: This weekly challenge is posted on Thursday, and alternates between color and sketch (if there is a 5th week in the month you get the double dose of color & sketch).

Make a Wish(bone)

I squeezed in one more card this weekend. This time for Addicted to CAS challenge, whose code word is Wish.

Here is what I came up with:

Make a Wish(bone) | by karen @ carefree creations

My mind first went to making a wish on a star, but as I was reviewing my stamp index, I saw this wishbone and knew it would be perfect. I chose purple because it has a mystic feeling to it.

Originally, I stamped just the wishbones, but it wasn’t enough, so I added some stars to add a bit more interest and color. I colored everything with Copics and tried to do subtle variations in the coloring to add depth too.

Welcome Spring

This card is for the Less is More challenge where the theme is New Beginnings.

Welcome Spring | by karen @ carefree creations

The challenge theme, New Beginnings, makes me think baby – and I don’t need a baby card. I got to thinking and decided that spring brings new beginnings and I thought a flower bud was a perfect symbol of that.

Be Careful

Today’s card is for the CASology challenge where the cue card is: Cut.

Be Careful | by karen @ carefree creations

When I first saw the cue card, Cut, I immediately thought about an injury (probably because I’m accident prone, lol). I’ve done a card similar to this before, so I tried to change it up a bit – angle the cut, use distressing, no white.

The sentiment is stamped with alphabet set.

Bold Flower Thank You

It is time for another CAS Colours & Sketches challenge. Check out the latest challenge:

And here is my take:

Bold Flower Thank You | by karen @ carefree creations

When I came up with this color scheme, I knew I would do a two-toned flower. Of course, I thought it would be layered, but I really love the leaf image in this set – and since I couldn’t do two-toned leaves, this style leaf was a good alternative to give it interest.

I hope you join us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

You’re So Sweet

Today I finished my card for Less is More.

You're so Sweet | by karen @ carefree creations

The Less is More challenge is one-layer with the theme favorite drink. My favorite drink is ice tea. I do NOT like sweet tea, but the sentiment worked.

I tried to do liquid masking on the ice cubes, but the edges were not tight. Once the liquid was stamped, I peeled off the liquid mask and watercolored the ice cubes.

Nutty for You

Playing along with CASology.

Nutty for You | by karen @ carefree creations

The challenge cue is Forest. I had another plan, but it didn’t work for me. I ended up here instead. I broke out my Copics, which I haven’t used in ages. I stamped the acorn three times so that I could layer the finished product up (it also made it so much easier to color).

The wood grain image is inked with a sponge to have it fade on the side.

Thanks for taking a peek!
