Penguin Party

I created this card for the heck of it. The idea to put a party hat on the penguin came to me when I was trying to come up with a winter themed card (that I posted yesterday). It took 5 stamp sets to make this simple card! But I’m so happy they all worked so well together!

As I’ve said many times before, layout is not my strong point, so for this card I used a technique that Maile has used a lot recently (check out the last card in her post).

Bright Presents

I made it to the next round in the CAS winter DT search! The next challenge was to create a card with one or more presents on it (and thankfully it didn’t have to be holiday themed).

I just received my PTI box today and inside was my Take Three die – one I’ve been wanting for a while now. I decided to put it to use right away. I stamped the presents onto the colored cardstock and embossed with white. I taped the presents behind the die openings. Then I stamped the greeting and adhered the panel to the card base with foam tape. The final touch was a few color coordinated rhinestones.

Magical Birthday

I love this pony image (I grew up in the 80’s, so yeah, it only makes sense, lol).

The card has lots of colors, so I kept everything else very limited…not a lot of textures/patterns or other accents.

Rockin’ Collage

I created this card for Papertrey’s Make-It-Monday Challenge (mim39). The challenge was to make your own background paper.

I love doing this technique, so I wanted to find a set I hadn’t already done before.

I started my paper with the layout in mind, so I made sure I had a guitar oriented the correct way and would be near where the sentiment strip would end. I worked from there filling in with a star and music notes.

Girl Talk

I created this card for my niece.

No challenge, just have been wanting to use this set 🙂 I’ve had this idea in my head since I bought the set. Creating this card was fun!

The bubble in the middle that says “hello” is popped up with dimensionals. On the inside of the card I have the same bubble but it says “miss u”.

Oh and something I learned. To get a die cut that isn’t marred on the back (so you can flip it over to face the other way) I took a piece of cardstock and folded it in half. Then ran that through the big shot. The die cut that is inside – closest to the die – will not have any marks on the back, so you can easily flip it over to stamp on the back. Of course, you don’t have the wonderful edge, but that isn’t all that noticeable.

First Day of School

Today is the first day of school. My girls are very nervous this year (not sure why) and so I wanted to make today a little more special. I wrote positive notes inside the cards – trying to encourage them.

I created this card late last night (I’m an expert procrastinator). I chose Teal because that is a school color. I don’t really have any “school” stamps, so I got out Wise Owls and added the graduation cap to convey the school theme. I added the Diamond impression to the card base because, to me, it mimics the owl’s belly.

Birthday Bash

Last weekend my kiddo was invited to a birthday party. This is the card I made for the friend who loves dogs and the color blue.

I kept the card fairly simple. I started with picking some fun paper and choosing my Copics based on the colors from the paper. I started out to use Fall-to-Layout #141, but things moved around to fit my image.

Cute Style

Another style card. I started with a square card (4in so the overlap will still fit in a regular envelope). I added a strip of Bashful cardstock to the bottom. I trimmed a piece of pattern paper, which is longer than the card base. I added the ribbon and tied a knot. After coloring the monster, I cut him out. I adhered the sentiment panel and monster. See, simple.

I think my favorite part is the “ah-ha” moment I had when I was flipping through the paper and found the numbers and realized it went perfectly with the sentiment I had chosen (which I had chosen to go with the goofy monster I created).

(not so) Embellished

Embellish Magazine’s latest color challenge was a masculine theme (check it out). With many nephews in the family, I can always use a masculine birthday card, so I definitely needed to participate in this challenge!

After perusing my stamp index, I decided to use the paper airplane image (my nephews are getting older, so cute doesn’t really cut it any more). As with many of my one-layer cards, the stamped images didn’t end up quite where I wanted, so I chopped it up and made a layer instead. I added the checkerboard image to help with the “racing” feel of the airplanes.

On the inside I repeated the border (along the top as well, but you don’t see that in the picture). I also used the outline paper airplane image to make it feel cohesive.

Happy Birthday

Animal Stories

All these cards use the Animal Stories set by StampinUp. I designed these (and 2 CASE cards that I won’t bother posting as the originals are better, lol) for an upcoming stamp camp my mom is holding. The idea is to make 5 cards using the same stamp set to show its versatility.

This first card uses a bold color scheme and some of the products from the Occasions mini (pom-pom trim and large buttons). I had fun stamping this one out.

I tried to keep this next card simple as most of the others have a lot going on. I really love the Paradise leaves paired with the elephant.

I made the third card because I just had to do the cute cart that I found at Lisa Young’s blog. Such a cute idea.
