15 Years

I made this card for my hubby – today is our 15th anniversary!

When the Masculine Motifs set first came out, I really wanted it – but just for these two images, so I opted not to get it. Just a couple months ago though, someone decided they were done with their own set and put it up for sale – I decided that was a sign 🙂 I ended up making a few birthday cards for other guys in my family – so I feel it was worth getting the set!

Thanks for taking a peek!

FYI – Digi Silhouettes

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI31. This challenge is sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.

I really love the colors in this inspiration photo! The way the light warms up the building and night was my inspiration.

I used Photoshop Elements to create my digi card. I started with the fabulous Bugaboo digital stamp called Love Blocks – love conquers. The background is a subtle gradient and the silhouettes pull colors from the inspiration photo.

Once I had the digi part done, I printed it out. Then I added some ribbon and popped the panel onto the card base. The sentiment (also from the digi stamp) was printed out, trimmed, and popped on the card.

Thank You cards for Teachers

These two cards are for the gym & music teachers (I gave the art teacher a generic thank you that I made last month – my brain just couldn’t get artsy, which is sorta ironic, eh?).

Other: Notations DSP (SU); Stars (larger is a punch; smaller is from PTI Merry & Bright die);

Fabulous Day

I created this card to send to my secret sister on SplitCoast. I used my random-file program to select a stamp set. This is one I begged off of my mom because I love this image. But then I never used it – so I am glad it was brought up by the program.

I went with paper piecing this go around.

Originally I was going to hide the entire left/bottom corner of the white die cut, but I found that if I left some of it peeking through the card actually felt more balanced.

Now if I could just stamp my sentiment straight!

Other: Mat Stack 5 Mega die, Sending You die (leaves) (PTI);

Inspired Bird

Back in April I saw this china pattern in Pinterest. The image is of Lenox china (image source).

I actually created this card within a week of seeing the image – but since I sent the card to my secret sister, I couldn’t post it online until now.

I watercolored the bird and trimmed him out. I originally had die-cut the berries from Riding Hood card stock, but they were too vibrant/solid for the feel of the card/inspiration. So, instead, I die-cut from white and watercolored the ink directly onto the die-cuts.

I debated about embossing the card base – and I think it would have been fine plain – but I do like the added texture the embossing adds.

Hippity Hoppity

I know it seems a little late for an Easter card, but I couldn’t post this when I made it as I sent it to my secret sister. Instead of holding on to it for next year, I figure a little whimsy is a good thing 🙂

I had just received the Scrambled Eggs set from Papertrey and had to use it to make a card. I love this set because I’ll be able to add ears to many things, lol.

Flower Swirls & Chocolate

Another card created for my secret sister. This time I used vertical sentiments from her “like” list.

A couple days before I made this card I saw this cute card by Jennifer Holmes. I loved the layout and had to try it myself. Since the sentiment took up so much real-estate, I also used larger flowers to help balance it all out.

To color the images, I selected 2 colors and used a trio of complementary markers to color each flower ‘layer’.

Woohooo

May is always hectic for me – between Teacher Apprecation & Mother’s Day at the beginning of the month and end of school stuff at the end…I just don’t have a whole lot of time for fun stamping.

I needed to make a RAK card today and decided to pull up a challenge – the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge. They’ve changed their format and now they have different challenges every week. This week’s challenge is a color challenge (May21 Cool Shades). I interpreted the colors as light blue, medium blue, yellow-green, and orange.

I thought the “woohoo” sentiment was perfect for what I needed so I created the scene around the owl image. Things just kept jumping into the scene – definitely not my typical CAS style, lol. I love how even though the owl isn’t all that big, because he’s the only orange thing, he pops and draws your eye.

When coloring the owl I chose to do straight color instead of shading and did his feathers in a gradient of oranges.

Woohooo
Stamps: Cubby Chums (Paper Smooches);
Colors: Marina, Bashful, Crumb, Celery (StampinUp); Brown (Memento);
Other: YR12, YR15, YR18, YR23, E44 Markers (Copic); Branch & Wonky Border dies (My Favorite Things); Grass die (Memory Box); Cloud impression plate (my own creation);

Fluffy Happiness

This is the second card I sent to my secret sister. Her favorite colors are turquoise and lime. I know these aren’t those colors – but they are a similar color scheme.

I heat embossed the dandelion images with white embossing powder onto the pattern paper and then sponged Pear ink around them.

Wishing You Happiness
Stamps: Many Wishes (GinaK);
Colors: Baja Breeze, White, Pear Pizzazz (SU);
Other: Baja pattern paper, Scallop Border punch (SU); White embossing powder;

FYI – Aloha

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI30.

Seriously? How beautiful is this? The orange sky is just amazing! I think it is pretty obvious how I was inspired.

To do my background, I used a technique that Nichole Heady at Papertrey showed us a few weeks ago during a Make-it-Monday tutorial (mim58). I chose to do a partial background instead of covering the whole panel. To soften my edges I went back over them with the colorless blender.

The palm tree stamp is one my hubby picked up for me a couple years ago during one of his trips to Guam. He’s the bestest 🙂

Thanks for stopping by!
