Mahalo

After a long time on the market, we finally sold our condo in Hawaii. I was so impressed by everyone involved, that I wanted to send a couple thank you cards.

Since I wasn’t really sure how either of the recipients felt about handmade cards, I decided to keep them very clean and classic.

For this first card, I wanted to use a hibiscus-like flower and this image fit with what I had in mind.

The sentiment is from the complimentary set that PTI distributed at the end of 2011.

I used the same sentiment for the second card as well.

The pattern on this card was inspired by a rug I found on Pinterest, but the colors came from a recent PTI Make-it-Monday (#64).

I was going to add a bow, but that detracted to much from the relatively flat card/sentiment – so instead I added a string of pearls.

Thanks for stopping by!

Miss You All the Time

My hubby is off again today on another week’s business trip. This will be the third in a row (and there is still one more next week). I’m just glad he gets to come home on weekends!

I recently won this Hero Arts stamp set and I am so happy I did – it is perfect for cards like this! To play off the sentiment, I stamped the clock hand multiple times along the clock face.

I die cut the Tessatina border out of wood veneer and left in the cut-out pieces because I liked the more solid effect.

Thanks for stopping by!

Raspberry Blooms

I’ve been admiring the latest Retro Sketch (rs9) for a week, but only just now got my idea for a card (which of course is after the deadline, lol).

I used some new supplies – Celebrations set and Notched Flowers die. I chose a bright color scheme.

Berry Sweet Birthday

I’ve been trying not to order stamp sets the day (or month) that they are released. I have a habit of getting caught up in the hoopla. However, the Strawberry Patch set could not be ignored for long. Last week when I put in an order, I added the set to my cart. I got my box yesterday!

I used Copics to color the image and may not do that all the time as it is time consuming to go around all the little seeds, but I do love how it turned out. I think I did pretty good on shading the strawberries, but one day I really want to learn how to do leaves!

FYI – Earthy Teapot

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI29. This challenge is sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs.

This inspiration photo is very interesting. I love the subdued feel and earthy tones. The thing that kept catching my eye was the waterfall. It steered me to my image selection.

I picked this adorable teapot from Fresh Brewed Designs. The cute little scene was perfect for the earthy tones – and the waterfall made me think of pouring water.

FYI – Light Glare

It is time for another For Your Inspiration challenge. Check out the latest challenge -> FYI28.

This photo is so cool. The colors are not what you’d think and the play of the light is interesting. What first caught my eye was the light glare – and I just thought lots of circles.

While this is my normal CAS style, it is also my attempt at the graphic style. The circles are done with lots of Spellbinder circle dies. I actually ran the dies through the machine layered together (not sure if you’re supposed to or not, but I wanted them as close to perfect as I could get). I chose my colors from the photo. Then I found a sentiment with the right font.

Thankful Petals

OK, this is my last post for today 🙂 Again, I used my random-file program which came up with Petal Prints. I love that old set. I wanted to do some soft colors, but I thought I’d use craft ink on Kraft paper. The Pale Plum is a bit hard to see (in real life anyway, the camera seemed to pick up the color better), so next time I’ll chose a different color.

The layout is loosely based on the CAS challenge at Splitcoase – which is a sketch this week (cas166).

The Label die left too much blank space around the image, so I ended up hand cutting it out – as well as the center to create the frame.

Dog(wood) & Butterfly

I created this card for the CAS-ual Friday challenge – Opposites Attract.

The stamp set was chosen with the random-file program that I use.

The layout is a Fall-to-Layout (#186).

I did the coloring with pencils; mostly because I knew I wanted the Dogwood blossoms to be white and pencils was the easiest way…so it just made sense to do the butterfly with the same medium.

thank you

Happy Easter

My attempt at chocolate bunnies in my girls’ baskets this year was not a hit. By the time I got around to ordering chocolate (I prefer fair-trade chocolate), all that was left was dark chocolate…which apparently my girls don’t like. Next year I must remember to order early!

I created this card for the ColourQ Challenge (cqc131). These colors will soon be retired from the StampinUp arsenal. I’ve come to really love Pear and Bride! I’ve already made sure to ordered extra paper and ribbon 🙂

Thanks for taking a peek!
