Peace and Plenty

I created this card for the WaltzingMouse sketch challenge (wmsc71). As I was looking at the sketch, I was trying to see if I had anything that would work for the circle. I recently purchased the Peace & Plenty set which has a wreath in it.

I pulled out my set and sure enough, I thought it would work. My card isn’t quite the same as the sketch, but I think it is close enough to count, and the sketch is certainly where I started.

Happy Halloween

I neglected to send Halloween cards last year, so I didn’t need to make any this year. But as I was checking my list I realized I needed one more – quick and flat. I checked out SplitCoast and found this lovely by Dawn using Haunted Forest. CASE!

I changed just a bit (like removing the bling since I wanted easy mailing) and one less layer. I also used Brushed Silver for my layer behind the Haunted Forest. I really like the shine that gave it.

Oh, and her main image is stamped on grey, but I wanted to use vellum. So I needed to get creative when adhering the vellum. The image has a few tiny black spots (the animals), so I used those to my advantage and applied tiny dots of liquid glue to those spots. I got lucky and they didn’t even mush out 🙂

Birthday Cards

My step-mother is quite the bridge player – traveling for tournaments and such. Her birthday was a couple weeks ago. I created this card to celebrate her day.

The playing cards were created using different PTI stamp sets: School Time (the frame), Simple Little Things (ornament), and Trajan Monogram (letters).

The card base is embossed with PTI’s Giga Guidelines Impression Plate. I had to piece together the sentiment using different sets, but I’ve forgotten which. I did use an alphabet set to spell “slam” (that set was CTMH Sans Alpha, which is just a bit larger than PTI’s Simple Alpha – see).

Once I adhered the cards to the base, I decide to add the white border with a gel pen. I didn’t think it out too well or I would have placed the sentiment before drawing so that I could “leave space” in the line as I did for the card. They both needed to be treated the same – either gap-ed or solid. Next time 🙂

Life is a Highway

I wish I could get better photos of Aqua Mist. It is such a wonderful color, but I just can’t seem to get a good photo. Anyway, this card was created last month for my father-in-law’s birthday. He’s traveled a lot and his philosophy really is to enjoy the ride.

I was inspired by a card Heather (pinefeather) did during the countdown for this set.

Shiny Happy Flower

I actually created this card over a month ago for PTI’s Make It Monday Colored Pencil challenge mim30).

I like how this turned out, but I’ll admit, I find it easier to blend with Copics. I was surprised though just how bright I got the color – normally when I do pencils it is too pale.

Autumn Birthday

I created this card for InkUp’s October camp. Mom wanted a masculine card. I’m so glad they came out with the set Best Dad Ever – the fonts are perfect for masculine cards.

The focal panel (the newsprint paper) is stamped with the different foliage images – each with their own color. You can click the image to see it in more detail.

You can’t tell in the photo, but the card base is stamped with the Woodgrain background in Espresso.

Strawberry Love

I created this card over the summer for one of mom’s stamp camps. I love Tart & Tangy and was sad to see it retire.

I’m pretty sure mom added glitter to the strawberry for the final card 😀

Halloween Stitches

During the month of September I put together a 5 week newsletter that involved “stitching” (for my mom’s SU group). Two of the cards were Halloween themed, so I’m posting them together. I’ll post the other cards in the future.

First up is a hand-stitched web – done with clear filament. To create the web, I started by drawing the lines on the back-side and then pierced the places the lines intersected.

The rest of the card is pretty simple. I used markers to color the candelabra and then cut it out. The sentiment is actually a little of both sentiments from the Wicked Cool set. Again I used markers to selectively color the parts I wanted to use. I don’t bother with a stamp-a-ma-jig…which is why ‘halloween’ is a bit crooked, oh well 🙂

The next card was meant to be a funny card. I have no idea who I would send this too – but thankfully I don’t have to worry about it, the card is in the safety of mom’s stamp room.

The foot was hand drawn, but I’ve conveniently included it here as a download, if you so desire, lol.

Card Set

Back in May, I created this card set to give as an end-of-school-year gift. The card set was two of each of these designs.

First up a “thinking of you”. I wanted a calming feel, so I went with purples.

The second card is done in blues – I believe I used Marina Mist. The image is actually stamped twice to have the same “tall” feel as the other two cards.

Finally, a birthday card. I wanted a cheerful card, so I went with yellows. I think cardstock is Lemon Tart (PTI) and ink is Daffodil Delight (SU);

Girl Talk

I created this card for my niece.

No challenge, just have been wanting to use this set 🙂 I’ve had this idea in my head since I bought the set. Creating this card was fun!

The bubble in the middle that says “hello” is popped up with dimensionals. On the inside of the card I have the same bubble but it says “miss u”.

Oh and something I learned. To get a die cut that isn’t marred on the back (so you can flip it over to face the other way) I took a piece of cardstock and folded it in half. Then ran that through the big shot. The die cut that is inside – closest to the die – will not have any marks on the back, so you can easily flip it over to stamp on the back. Of course, you don’t have the wonderful edge, but that isn’t all that noticeable.
